Janet accepted a ride from the trucker despite the lateness of the hour. She had to get to San Antonio as soon as possible and didn't have much of an alternative. The man seemed friendly enough, and had a cooler full of drinks and snacks he didn't mind sharing. Jackpot, she thought, as she cracked open a beer and eyed the food hungrily.

Two hours later, her body slack and unresponsive, he turned off the highway and down a paved, two-lane road and stopped at an abandoned gas station. In a fog she saw him lift her body out of the truck cab and into a waiting van. She could not see the van driver but time seemed to stand still as it left the gas station and hummed through the back roads, deeper into the countryside. An hour later it came to an ornate metal gate guarded by two large men in security clothes who checked the driver's credentials, then let the vehicle through.

Behind the gate was a large warehouse shrouded in darkness save for a lone light post in front. When the van pulled up to one of the delivery bays several men came out and shuffled her out of her seat. Still in a fog mentally, her body complied puppet-like. Inside the warehouse they took her down a flight of stairs to a strange, ornate room with granite flooring and large columns. They hooked her wrists above her head to a wire frame by handcuffs and left her there without comment.

Minutes passed. Then a whirring sound came above her head and she watched as a giant round metal eye descended from the ceiling. It blinked mechanically at her. A white mass of cables slithered out from under it and glided towards her. The tip of the cable mass flared out into a coupling or metallic, sucker like appendage which attached itself to her navel.

Even in her stupor she could feel several small metal tendrils extend from the sucker's interior and begin burrowing into her navel. She felt that she should protest or scream for some reason, but could not think of why. "Harvesting procedure initiated." she heard the eye state ...
