One by one all of the one hundred women vehemently rejected the idea of allowing themselves to bear more of the insidious egg sacs inside themselves. One by one they were released from the gestation beds and taken to military medical stations to be looked after.

Until only Jenna was left.

She lay there in her bonds and absorbed the news of the wartime atrocities. The Spider-Bots had decimated billions of people, destroyed whole cities (including hers). They had enslaved her whole gender for their callous needs.

The Spider-Bots would return. Everyone agreed on that. Would they return in far greater numbers and try to overwhelm the remnants of humanity by brute force? Would they slink into the solar system a few at a time by stealth and subvert the human race from within? No one knew.

Humanity had won this time. Would they prevail the next time? No one knew.

But there was one thing that Jenna did know. Her old life was gone, destroyed with her city and her family. What was left to cling to? What did she have to return to? Nothing really. She'd disliked her old job even before she'd been enslaved, had wanted to change careers anyways but hadn't yet figured out what else she wanted to do with her life.

Now she knew. She volunteered.

Not without reservations of course. She was still human after all. Not without a little fear for what lay ahead surely. The doctors could give her no guarantees as to what she might face down the road.

But she volunteered. For humanity.

In the days to come the military doctors examined her closely as they used the remaining data from the Spider-Bot computers to study this strange symbiosis that was going on inside her. Several top secret genetics projects were initiated in the hopes that they would aid humanity should there ever be another war.

Humanity would not go down without using every means at it's disposal to survive. She would help in that regard. Whatever the cost.
