The humanoid robot stared blankly at Jenna. The drop of blood on her arm where the hypodermic had punctured her surface membrane had dried now. Her body was falling under the influence of the hibernation chemical. Her sensory inputs were shutting down, just as had happened with the other women.

When they were awakened they usually reported experiencing dreams before the chemical fully took hold and shut down their minds. Most dreamed of trying to escape, of feeling an imperative need to move, and rescue by an authority figure of some sort. No doubt these were caused by their limbs stiffening into hibernation stasis and the life-sustaining gas flooding the chamber they were in. Even as they went to sleep a part of their minds were aware of what was happening to them and resisting.

It wondered what this one was dreaming of.
