Description

I'm still alive!  And it's Charmander!  I'm planning on entering this into 's current contest, Pokemon!  Though not this photo because I want to finish all the starters from the first games and a group photo is a must!

Anyway, I'm planning on writing out the patterns for all of them so as usual, please credit me should you use or reference the pattern.  It really does take me a lot of time to write these out!  Also, please don't sell the pattern or finished product since I do not own these characters!  Let me know if you catch any errors!  Thank you!

**The flame at the end of the tail was made by brushing out yarn.  I was trying to figure out how to make the flames look  more "flame-like" and ended up using this tutorial:   by as a guide.  I ironed the brushed out yarn instead of using a hair straightener since I didn't have one, but it seemed to do the trick!

**The eyes and nails are needle felted though I'm sure cut out felt will also work!

I would suggest using the same arm and leg instructions as Squirtle since they should be about the same size

aphid777 In reply to luceritokokoroh [2015-01-08 02:20:18 +0000 UTC]

FO just means to slip stitch in the next stitch and then cut the yarn and pull it all the way through.  I'm sorry it's not going well!

Good luck to you!  I didn't change colors at all.  The white belly is made separately and sewn on afterwards.  It's all in the pattern

Could you please post the information for the yarn that you used for ALL parts please (including tail and eyes)? Thanks

aphid777 In reply to erunave [2014-10-25 08:08:13 +0000 UTC]

I used Red Heart Supersaver brand for all the parts, but I don't remember the exact colors.  The eyes are needle felted with wool roving, not made of yarn.

I have some experience in crocheting but idk what your instruction mean :S, i would like a  challenge  and this charmander is just soo cute would it be possible to get step by step instructions on how to make the charmander?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aphid777 In reply to TipToplena64 [2014-08-12 00:57:13 +0000 UTC]

I try to use pretty standard abbreviations in my pattern:

magic ring #=single crochet # into magic ring
sc=single crochet stitch
inc=increase
dec=decrease
FO=fasten off

Any numbers after are just specifying how many of that stitch you should make.

It just means to decrease twice in a row.

awsome ^_^ also how big is the fully finished charmander? i did the head and body part and my neck isnt as narrow as yours even though i followed the pattern and the body is kinda small

aphid777 In reply to lupine-love [2014-10-25 08:15:39 +0000 UTC]

Mine ended up being about 6 inches long? (I never officially measured it).  Not sure why yours is turning out differently.. maybe the tightness of our stitches differ :/

lupine-love In reply to aphid777 [2014-10-25 18:19:53 +0000 UTC]

That may be it my stitching is like stupid tight..... but on the bright side no stuffing shows lol xD

Hey,

First of all thank you for this amazing pattern. I have never done anything like this before and this pattern makes it very easy to follow. I'm just stuck on a little thing. How do you attach all the parts together. Maybe I'm missing something in the abbreviations seeing how english isn't my main language.  If you maybe have a site or a video that shows me how you attach things I'm sure I can figure it out.
One minor suggestion I have is maybe adding how big charmander is. Mine is turning out bigger then I estimated when looking at the pictures
Thanks in advance!

aphid777 In reply to popipunk [2014-07-23 23:16:51 +0000 UTC]

Hello!  Usually before sewing everything together, I lay everything on a flat surface and pin the pieces together.  Only then do I start sewing.  It can be tricky and I admit that I've had to take things apart and re-position.

I do forget to include the size sometimes  I think my Charmander ended up being about 8 inches long?

Sorry for the newbie question in your pattern when you say incx2 does that mean you increase twice in a row or make 4 stitches in one go? XP

Hi! I absolutely adore your patterns I finished my pikachu last week, and now I'm on the final stages of charmander
Thank you for providing the patterns

I just wanted to ask a quick question about the 'fire' on the tail. How did you attach the yarn? Did you brush it before hand and then sew it onto the tail? Or did you knot it all together and slid it inside the tail, and then brushed it out?

Thanks again!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aphid777 In reply to athanais [2014-05-27 22:47:31 +0000 UTC]

No problem!   And I'm glad you're enjoying my patterns!

For the tail, I made bundles of yarn and brushed and ironed them before tying them into the tail.  There is a tutorial linked at the bottom of the pattern if you'd like to refer to that for more in-depth instructions   Hope that helps!

The pattern is great and very easy to follow, but the pattern for the arms should use puff stitches like Squirtle. If you check pictures from original art of Charmander his fingers are the same color as his body.
