Description

I feel exhausted, so I'm kind of blanking on what to say   I drilled and filled a tooth on a live patient for the first time ever this past week.  The patient survived and meanwhile, I didn't faint from nervousness   I've also been having some weird, itchy, skin condition all winter until now.  Combined with the nerves, I didn't sleep all too well this week, but crocheting has kept me sane through all the bumps of dental school

Anyway, enough of that, Eevee is all done!!  I hope you all like her (I decided to make this one a "she" )!  As usual, please credit me should you use or manipulate this pattern and please be respectful and don't sell the finished product since I don't own the character!  Happy crocheting!

Do you know of any good tutorials that teach you from scratch? Currently your tutorial makes no sense to me cause I don't know anything about this

I happened to find a book about amigurumi, and brought it to my sister who does know crochet. She couldn't make heads or tails of it

But her mother in law managed to teach me just a few basic stitches, and from that I managed to make a fairly failed amigurumi mushroom (I kept picking up stitches that weren't there/increasing by mistake

A few tries later I'm now able to make the easy characters in the book fairly correctly.

Went back with just a tiny hope, and wow, I can read the pattern!

I can do this now, it even looks easy!
Just one question:
On arms: "4.  3, inc, 4, inc, 3 (14)" Is the 3, 4 and 3 sc? It is stated on all other lines so just looks odd without it (and the counting makes it seem right too)

This pattern is the reason I wanted to learn it in the first place, so I will definitely give it a go =^_^=

I remember my first time trying to read patterns from a book as well!  Sounds pretty similar to your experience  I'm glad you're starting to get the hang of it!

And yes, you're right!  I forgot to add "sc" to that line.. will go back and fix that  Thanks for the catch!  I sure hope the pattern works out for you! ^_^

Hm, how did you do the mane? Did you make a "tail" in about the right size, just make it a loop and then fasten it?

I'm thinking the hole left in the body seems very appropriate to use, fasten the coamed strings in the loops left from the last round.
How did you do it?

aphid777 In reply to Stormartic [2015-01-26 01:03:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I cut equal lengths of yarn and latch hook them in place around the neck area after I've assembled all the parts.  Then I brush and trim the fur the way I want it to look

She's GRREAT!  Very nice job!  As for your itching...is it on your hands/arms?  If so, it could be the gloves you have to wear during your dental job.  My son had the same problem in the bakery dept...found out it was the gloves.

Thank you!!  I have circular lesions all over my arms, legs, and body.  I do have to wear gloves, which irritates the ones on my hands.  I'm pretty sure it's weather-related though.. All of them start to heal up whenever I go home (California) for breaks, and they immediately break out again when I get back to school.  It's starting to warm up here though so I'm hoping for the best!

My son used "Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E' and it helped clear his rash right up. They also got him different gloves.  The cocoa butter comes in a small dark gray round container and it says its 'made for men' but anyone can use it.
