Description
First off, this pattern is incomplete. I was not able to write proper instructions for the tail, just a really rough one that I have posted in my scraps here: fav.me/d74nhwc I apologize for that, but I hope the notes I have will help!
I don't know if I'm completely happy with how Pikachu's face turned out.. I don't think he looks quite accurate, but it was difficult balancing accuracy with a similar style to the other three. The ears are floppy on purpose because I like floppy ears Eyes and other details are needle felted, though I'm sure regular cut out felt or embroidering will work too. Let me know if you catch any errors! Hope you guys have a great weekend and happy crocheting!

Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops to complete. Make sure to tighten this stitch as much as you can before continuing to prevent holes from forming.

What material do you put inside your crocheted toys? Some kind of cotton wool or small plastic balls? And where is possible to buy it?
I was searching for pattern like this and yours is by far the best one. It's so cute. I would like to do Pikachu for my friend...but don't have much experience yet. It's so nice of you to put this pattern here for free. For "lazy" people or people like me.

I use poly-fill. You can buy a big bag for less than $10 at most craft stores. Most people who make toys use this and it's hypo allergenic.

For future reference, if you haven't discover it yet, Poly-fil is what most people use for filling. You can find it pretty cheap on Amazon or at Wal-mart. If it is something small like your cute little guy, you can even use scrap yarn. Often, after I cut off the excess yarn tails, I then use them to fill the limbs of my project since they are the same color anyway
Hope that I may have been helpful. If you already figured all of this out, then disregard my comment lol.

Thanks a lot, never mind I'm done with Pikachu,'cause I'll make more amigurumi characters in future. I'll have to use Amazon.de or find some store (for example Hornbach is more for technical things and we don't have Wal-mart) in Czech republic for this special kind of stuff.
Actually this Pikachu looks just smaller on picture. He's about 20 cm long. Or maybe it's not so big, is it?
Thanks for your kindness

I wrote a pattern for your tail. I found it much easier to make it in pieces and sew them together.
Largest to smallest
1st piece use yellow:
R1: ch 11
R2: work 1 sc into the second chain from the hook, then 1sc in each next chain, chain 1 and turn
R3-8: 1sc in each stitch, rotate work to closest small edge.
work 6 sc into small edge, rotate again to last long edge
work 10 sc into long edge.
work 6 sc into small edge
FO
2nd piece use yellow:
R1: ch 11
R2: work 1 sc into the second chain from the hook, then 1sc in each next chain, chain 1 and turn
R3-4: 1sc in each stitch, rotate work to closest small edge.
work 6 sc into small edge, rotate again to last long edge
work 10 sc into long edge.
work 6 sc into small edge
FO
3rd piece Use brown:
R1: ch 6
R2: work 1 sc into the second chain from the hook, then 1sc in each next chain, chain 1 and turn
R3-4: 1sc in each stitch, rotate work to closest small edge.
work 3 sc into small edge, rotate again to last long edge
work 5 sc into long edge.
work 3 sc into small edge
FO
4th piece Use Brown:
R1: ch 6
R2: work 1 sc into the second chain from the hook, then 1sc in each next chain, chain 1 and turn
R3-4: 1sc in each stitch, rotate work to closest small edge.
work 2 sc into small edge, rotate again to last long edge
work 5 sc into long edge.
work 2 sc into small edge
FO
Sew together in typical tail pattern. The last ans smallest piece should be sewn on the short edge instead of the long one.
If you want the tail to be a bit more stiff and stand up on it's own make 2 of each piece and sew them together. I personally couldn't be bothered though haha.
I'll also add a few pictures of the tail and my finished pikachu tomorrow. I have yet to attach his eyes Thank you so much for sharing this pattern.

Can't wait to try this pattern! The only thing I would change, though, would be to make the stripes on his back brown, as well as brown at the base of his tail. Very nice job nonetheless. It's the best one I've found so far! SO excited.

I really want to make one for my friend but I'm getting confused and keep messing up. I'm not quite undersranding when you say the [sc 2, inc] and so on. When I try it, I don't get the right amount of stitches and it then looks deformed. I'm still relatively new to crocheting.

SailorJager In reply to elequinryan [2015-01-27 21:18:51 +0000 UTC]
the brackets mean to repeat, so you would do 2 single stitches, then do an increase stitch. So it's adding a stitch onto your round. So if it said [sc 4, inc] you would stitch 4 then increase and repeat till done with that round
👍: 0 ⏩: 0
aphid777 In reply to elequinryan [2015-01-26 00:23:59 +0000 UTC]
It means to do 2 single crochet stitches, then increase in the third stitch, and repeat until you reach the end of the round. I'm not too sure how else to explain it
