This. Is. The most amazing tutorial I've ever come across. It's definitely the most unique one. I love the analogy of the turtle shells, because that "blending" is something I think I can apply to art much better than the dry "pick these two colors because they contrast well" method.
I don't know how well I'll be able to use this, since I use traditional mediums and not even very good ones. But I'm going to be thinking of this the next time I try to color a full scene. I've always ignored things like color theory because I just don't understand them. This really will help.
Thank you.

WOW!
i've been struggling with the color theory and i've been trying to teach it to myself (can't afford proper art classes) and this is an interesting way to do it! definately much more understandable than others! you did a really amazing job with this!

This has got to be the best tutorial in color pallet and color theory I have ever seen. I often have difficulty in choosing color combinations that will create the right mood for a piece. Thank you for taking the time to share this excellent tutorial and this insight into your creative process. Your digital work is an inspiration every time. Your technique is amazing, and your pieces always have a surreal, magical beauty.

I always have trouble with color schemes... this is an interesting and unique way to pick the colors you're going to use in a painting. I really like it! I will have to try out this idea sometime. Thank you for this tutorial, your paintings are gorgeous too by the way

Just a question. Do you just use those EXACT colors on the gradient. Or do you also change the values of the colors on the turtles to get lighter and darker tones? Just curious...

Indeed, this is the subject of another tutorial. After choosing the sheme of color, I need to work the light and shadow values
