in GMK all three are guardian deities to protect Japan and its elements.
King Ghidorah's character is based of the protector of japan Yamata no Orochi who was the most powerful deity of the 3. Orochi is the actual protect of Japan.
to make the movie sell more is they made Orochi under developed to make him "3 headed" to represent him as King Ghidorah

Hey, i'm with you Gamepunkster! Cthulhu utterly kicks ass (even monstrous-giant-lizard ass). I'm a lot more of a Lovecraft fan than a kaiju fan. And those you have red Lovecraft and know Cthluhu should know Gojira is no match for the Great Old One. Anyway, I second your comment about not going further in this "versus things".

Eh.... Cthulhu is much more than just another giant squid-monster. He's the semi-corporeal projection of a 9-dimensional being onto a 3-dimensional plane of reality mercifully cloaked under the name, "cthulhu." And Godzilla is... a big, scary radioactive mutant... my hypothesis: Cthulhu would win... though the exact intricacies of how are unknowable. That, or Cthulhu would want to have godzilla's babies, and then we'd have a Cosmic horror, Yaoi, Mpreg fanfic... *shudder*

Cthulhu's not a mindless monster. He's a GOD. Besides, if he wanted to, he could make the earth crash into the sun. and YES, Cthulhu WOULD survive that, because his body is not living and his mind does not need his body to keep existing.

I see this fight going down like Freddy vs Jason in the dream world in Freddy Vs Jason, except without the hydrophobia bull****. With Cthulhu in the place of Freddy and Godzilla in the place of Jason. Godzilla might be able to win since Cthulhu was decapitated by a boat, so Godzilla's plasma breath will vaporize him to nothing.

Assuming you mean what I think you mean, then because he can't withstand the amount of joules of kinetic energy of a boat cascading through his head. Put Godzilla in the same situation, and, well have you seen the original Gojira? Now put the Alert in the place of the Eikō-Maru. Godzilla has taken bullets, rockets, bombs, and missiles. Simply put, Godzilla is much tougher than anything we've seen from Cthulhu. He is also much more active.
