Description I do so enjoy Photoshop. Using the previous drawing, I copied and pasted the posterier half to make it into a whole. The feet look a bit odd, and there's a line separating the midline, but oh well. I'm happy.

Please take special notice of of the ears, pelvic region and the wings. I worked damn hard on them!! The wings and tail are obviously bird. I used my wonderful Manual of Ornithology, which, unfortunatly, has poorly shaded muscles. The muscles that act upon the ears were taken almost directly from horse ear muscles.

I made the latissimus dorsi and the trapezius very big and attach to the wings. Next to the latissimus dorsi is the rectus longus, which acts on the arm humerus.

I tried to make the legs thinner, with the muscle bellies higher up and elongating the tendons. That will make keeping the legs in place easier during flight. If you compare the gluteaus maximus on the shakusan with the corrisponding muscle on the human, you will note that the muscle takes up more area on the shakusan. It is flatter and wider than a humans' to act as a base for the legs' power. The thin muscles that run between the gluteaus maximus help lower the tail.

I am highly disgusted that I can't find any detailed referance ANYWHERE on bat musculature! So I had to modify the human stuff. And add birdy stuff. And abuse my bat Zoobook.

This is MINE. The species is MINE. But you can refrence it all you like, so long as you give me credit.

OMG OMG OMG OMG I think I just orgasmed over this.... like, seriously this is absolutely amazing... I've been wanting to see something like this forever.. I love anatomy and people with wings, and so you just made my day thank you!!

You're welcome!

Unfortunately, this needs a lot of fine tuning, since I made quite a few mistakes. But it's pretty good for being my first piece for this species. Hopefully, I can get the revised versions up, along with the respiratory and digestive systems!

Awesomes... can't wait for the respiratory system.. I have a fail system so it'd be cool to see yours with all it's technical coolness... That made no sense, but whatever xD

I wish it could be true.. but imagine how strong your abs would have to be to keep properly balanced?

Actually, with a bit of hormonal tinkering, it wouldn't be too bad. Actually, you'd probably have to lock the majority of your joints, otherwise you wouldn't be able to keep your body streamlined for flight. I think herons and other similar birds do that, but I could be horribly wrong.

The real kicker, if your body looked like this, to even be able to achieve flight, you also need hollow bones, a modified digestive tract and about 9 air sacks. Or else, be designed along the lines of a bat....

However, this picture is in a very sorry shape and desperately needs to be redone. I can hardly look at it any more without cringing at all the mistakes. Really, a much better example of the necessary superficial muscles is here [link] but even that needs some help.

saw this when I was browsing. *envies*
Is it normal if the first thing i thought of was "fried wings with bbq sauce"?
very well thought out !

Did you notice there is a sort of 'face', in the buttcrack?

No, I never did. But that's because I was lazy with this pic. I will make a better one.... later. After I finish the skeletons. Then I'll have front, back and side views of both muscles and bones, and I'll be happy!

....Until I do the respiratory system. D= Of all my winged critters.

By God, please do, can't draw winged things for the life of me...

Well, I've already got the lateral skeleton [link] and lateral muscles [link] - both of which are better references for winged humanoids than the front and back muscles (which are in desperate need of being fixed ). I also have winged horse muscles and skeleton, and I'm working on the same for griffin, dragon, centaur and winged wolf . Among other things.

I love you too, Aya. But not that much. Besides, as we both have a uterus, I don't think it would work too well.

THERE ARE WAYS!!

It's kind of expensive though >.>

But yeah, I heard about this procedure where they can extract the genetic material from an extracted egg and put it into a sperm that has had it's genetic material extracted and artificially inseminate the other egg thus having a baby that is the genetic product of two women.

Crazy, huh?

Well then.... So long as I don't have to do the 'giving birth' part! And I get to name it. Wait, it would be a girl then, wouldn't it?

yush, it would be a girl. I cannot produce Y chromosomes, sorry.

Eh, well I'm not sure which would be worse, a boy or a girl. But if we were birdies we could Or Shakusans. Because with birds, the females produce the X and Y chromosomes. What would happen if we ended up with a Y Y chromosome pup? O.o Do you think it would die in utero, or would it be like the X X X 'super woman'?

You can get YY babies, but more commonly they're YYX or YYYX. Although triple Y chrome babies are not only male but tend to be very violent (there's a corollation between triple Y males and violent serial killers).

There is the possability of a XXX baby girl though ^^. But then she'd just potentially have reading/learning disabilities, but that's nothing that can't be handled nowadays. XD

Do you mean that humans can end up with a YY baby?

*nodnod* Yes they can.
