Description
Ladies and Gentlemen. I present: Map Patterns for the Realm. Please feel free to use them, so long as you credit me.Included are 11 patterns that you can set to Multiply or Darken to add a little flavor to your D&D maps. There are two versions of the aquatic pattern, one black on white, the other white on black.
To use these, simply copy and past the file into the Photoshop > Presets > Patterns file. Then you can load them into photoshop by selecting Edit > Presets Manager > Patterns > Load. The Patterns will then be available for use in PS!
Please note that these were created in Photoshop CS2, so they may not be backwards compatible.
Enjoy!
[edit] it works this time. -.-
[edit edit] *12monthsOFwinter tells me that these even work for Elements v4. Hurray!

Forest A should be shorter and with more shrubs like after a forest fire / arid climate. Forest B should be a transitional forest where the undergrowth and bushes are giving way to the taller trees that are blocking out the sun. The forest if it is wild needs bushes; many European forests are cultivated and are unnaturally clean when compared to the wilds of the world.

Can this be used as a part of an artwork print, also outside DA? In a personal project: If I would someday like to sell one of my prints somewhere outside DA. No worries about it though, I just thought I'd check and ask.

I second this. Dorm internet does't allow me to download .zip files.

Thank you very much, they look very nice! What format are they in? The point is, I don't use PhotoShop, thus I prefer PNGs. If they are PSDs, I could try to convert them.

Thanks for uploading! While I'm looking at several resources at the moment, I'm considering using this for a course at Full Sail University. I'll let you know if I end up using it or not and link you to to the final product.

I enjoy D&D map making and have been forced to do most of it by hand (with limited success). This will be pretty helpful. Thanks.

I prefer good old-fashioned hand drawn maps in a book full of grid paper. Gives it a dedicated and creative fell to the game.

Cool! I've always wanted a pattern or brush like this. All i can say is that it's too big. it'd be cooler if they were smaller so i don't have to make my maps like 10 feet long

Arcandio In reply to TheCrimsonne [2007-09-26 15:36:21 +0000 UTC]
Well, You can actually change the scale of the pattern in the pattern dialog box for the layer. I made them big so people could make them smaller and still have them look good. (They look carpy if you size them up too much)

Hey, totally love these. I used them for one of my maps. Much love! though, I actually turned them into brushes to make them easier to use.

Yeah, I did them as brushes first, but decided to turn them into patterns so that can turn out a map in a quarter of an hour. I have to do about a hundred, so I need to be able to do them fast and with very little memory usage. I'm glad you liked them. They look great!

Well, patterns seem great for that, but with my maps the patterns always ended up in the wrong spot....
