Description
The scythers are a group of mostly herbivorous medibrachs. They are distinguished by their hypertrophied fourth finger and claw on the first pair of limbs. The red crested scyther is unusual in that unlike its kin, it's a predator. About as big as a bear, it hunts whiptails and their relatives, as well as spearing fruits from trees, and the occasional river animal. They run in a near erect stance, but can knuckle walk on their large fourth fingers.------------------
This is a heavy remake of archipithecus.deviantart.com/a… . In the old one, I think it had too many unnecessary claws, and was overall pretty awkward, so I made it so only the first pair of arms have scythe claws.

The old version did look pretty ugly ( no offence, of course, just being constructive ) but this one looks fantastic! One suggestion; make the claws shorter. If the prey is still moving whilst the claws are inside it, the shock from the movements could snap them. I can imagine it being more suited to a hunting style much like that of a Komodo dragon; it puncture the prey with its claw then follow it and wait until it bleeds to death.
I love the mohecan ( not sure if that's how you spell it ) though XD. And it's colouration.

No offense taken! The other picture was from a couple months ago, and I've really improved since then. And shorter claws probably would be better. As for the hunting, maybe after stabbing prey in a large artery they could chase it and ram into it with it's body, causing the prey to die faster. They aren't the apex predators, do they wouldn't want to let dieing prey get away.

In that case, I would suggest having them hunt in packs like lions ( I know it's called a pride, but pack seems to suit these guys more ) so that some members of the pack can hold down the prey whilst another stabs it in the throat. It would be far more delicate work than a lions method of killing though; I can imagine this animal being somewhat similar to a smilodon or other machaerodontid.
And yes, I did mean mohawk, I just don't know much about haircuts, haha...

How would they hold prey down? Maybe that's why they have the large claws. So maybe you could see 3-4 Scythers chasing after an animal, and grabbing onto it with belly claws, while a fifth one comes up and stabs the prey in the neck.

Yeah, I was thinking they would use their 2nd and 3rd pair of limbs to hold prey down.
