Description So initially I decided on not making cockpits for the Battle Frames for Frame Crash; the new ones, anyways. The old ones had one, but I ultimately decided to scrap them; too much unnecessary moving parts such as the hatch in the chair. In the new cockpits, the only moving part is the part that slides out to reveal the chair. The detail is also much better than some of my previous cockpits and more organized. Still need to add some stuff to this; I want to further improve the control sticks, and I want to add some cabling on the underside. Maybe a few more buttons here and there.

It's getting there, though! Any suggestions to improve it? Can't change the exterior shape at this point and the interior shape is pretty much set, though I can make changes to the console as necessary so long as they aren't too drastic.

EDIT: Following some suggestions, changes have been made to the controls and control sticks.

I would ride in this! This is excellent. Well if I could suggest, try to make the joysticks have more buttons, it's the ease of use that matters a lot, like using a controller for a video game, you don't want to have to get up or lean forward to hit a panel in the middle of a fight you want everything to be in finger's reach. randommode.deviantart.com/art/… This is what I did for the controls for the mech in my comic, although it may be a bit steam punkish? But I feel like it's fully functional and easy to use

I can see that, it is really nice. Did you get a chance to see my comic? I am curious your thoughts

Beyond the few pages around the one you linked, I have not. I have it bookmarked for future reading though

I dunno bout you, but my hands don't reach much past my knees when I'm reclining. The wrist supports? look pretty rough, too.
Maybe controls besides the thighs? Angled footpedals?
Handles are good, digging the screen..
Headrest could be unified. And.. seatbelts. Safety first.

Well, I actually used a 3D model of a formula 1 driver to position everything (3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model… ). Even though he was all scrunched up, I doubled up on the room available for the most part. The legs comfortably reach the pedals with leg room to spare, which are at an angle (Earlier image: i.imgur.com/IxujxaY.png ). So it sounds like I'll need to move back the control sticks a bit and redesign (or eliminate) the wrist supports.

Unfortunately controls beside the thighs won't fit. I could remove the handles that rest next to the high, but there still wouldn't be enough room for dedicated controls since that part slides in right against the wall.

Oh. I was picturing it being bigger than you intended, probably.
The controls look better.
How easy would it be to seat a semi-translucent pilot for scale?

Here we are: i.imgur.com/xsoyXWw.png

Assume the keyboard can retract and even then there's still plenty of room. Head has plenty of room to lean back into the chair (couldn't adjust the model very well) and the legs aren't stretched as far down as they could be (Let's just ignore the fact he looks like he's driving a car >_>).

Looks pretty good. I think most else would be personal preference.

I'll see if I can find a good model to put in there tonight and snap a shot.

Reminds me of Code Geass. Maybe have the control sticks be horizontal rather than vertical?

Going to try angling them something like this: i.imgur.com/Oa5L8YA.png

That would definitely work better, given the height they're set at. It looks good too. Vertical really only works if they're lower down, otherwise it's a bit awkward.

Aye. I think I'm going to move them back a bit. Probably not horizontal, but I may put them at an angle after I redesign the whole arm rest area.
