Great update to the original man, keep up the good work

From this angle, the legs look much better. Also, I like the back thrusters, if that's what they are. Only criticisms are that the upper arms seem a bit thin, and some shoulder armour would really complete the image.

My only comaint is that the legs and waist don't really seem to match the body and arms at the moment.

Eh, it happens sometimes. I don't particularly base these off of anything and make it all as I go along, so there's bound to be some parts that match or some odd proportions. Though I tried to match the legs to the central part of the torso, I might put armor similar to the legs on the upper arm as well.

That would look good. It really does need shoulder armour of some kind, otherwise the shoulders seem too exposed.

I did have some earlier, but I ended up not liking the design with the rest of the body, so I removed them. I'll make others eventually, probably more true to the original Duke design.

The shoulder armour looks perfect; not too big, but not too small. It matches the gauntlets/forearm armour very nicely.

Nice work so far. What are you using for your renders?

Good ol' VRay, though I'm also bringing it into Photoshop to add the glow effects and outlining. I'm eventually gonna try and see if I can make a rendered turntable of the completed model.

I tried V-Ray in Sketchup. It was so buggy I couldn't use it. Had to uninstall it.

Would love to see that turntable...

Is this going to be a damage shot? Pretty good pose already.

Was more of a "dogeza" pose, so to speak. Then again, his face isn't even close to being planted on the ground, lol.

It's okay. Still great.

Are those vulcan guns mounted on the white-bands of the shoulders?

Arcwalde In reply to ADVENTSEND [2013-04-23 21:27:44 +0000 UTC]

Or wait, no. Are you referring to those large box-like protrusions on the shoulders? Those're gonna serve purposes similar to the original Duke, where certain non-combat equipment might be stored.

I'm referring to the barrel protrusion located on the white band between the torso and the shoulders. I think you were right with the first response haha. i Like the thought of omni directional weaponry, could make them perfect for use as CIWS

Aye. And they are on their own rotary platform, so they can angle themselves 360 degrees forward/backward.

Previous Duke just had them compartmentalized and only capable of aiming forwards and upwards. Improvement~!

I'm liking this new design so far :3.
Keep up the good work buddy.

Very Nice, i love the gauntlet weaponry, it makes the machine's principle armament practically universal. Cant wait to see the finished product

Aye, I'm lovin' the design as well. Maybe hoping to add a couple more features, like an extendable grappling claw, etc. Hopefully without decreasing its integrity. It has the design for it, just gotta find out a safe way to implement it. P:

ADVENTSEND In reply to Arcwalde [2013-04-22 19:50:46 +0000 UTC]

hmmm, well to be honest, i think the addition of a grappler into the the gaunlets mite be a little much with how much is all-ready packed into them. Perhaps consider adding to another part of the mech like the hips?

Arcwalde In reply to ADVENTSEND [2013-04-22 20:36:45 +0000 UTC]

Probably what's gonna end up happening. I mean, it honestly wouldn't be too hard to add a grappler; just add a mechanism to the arm that moves the gauntlet down (Because as it stands, the hand would get in the way of any grappling action). And technically, there's not too much packed into them already; it only has two functions (With one function having the wide sword mode). So I think a function where it can grapple a target, and then activate its beam sword with them between the claws would, at the very least, be visually appealing. XD

ADVENTSEND In reply to Arcwalde [2013-04-22 21:29:52 +0000 UTC]

That is VERY true, I didn't think of it that way, haha. You could pretty much make the 'head' of the gaunlet the projectile part, and have its cable, launching, and wench mechanisms in the arm. If you wanted to go further with it, you also add an electric feature in which the grapple could deliver devestating electrical attacks through the grapple, or some kind of EMP for less than lethal take-downs?

Anzac-A1 In reply to ADVENTSEND [2013-04-24 09:01:11 +0000 UTC]

Or you could use a Slash Harken-style design, like from Code Geass Knightmare Frames, using the front of the gauntlet as the Slash Harken projectile.
