Description
I will be having a new tutorial out each day for the next week.TUTORIAL LINK: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-wNFQ…
I have been asked about loading animation cycles, so made a video about it. Covers how to import correctly, as well as extend the cycle (if required) and use it.

Thank you very much for posting this.
I know others may think that this is very basic knowledge, and while it is, this is how I primarily gain a better understanding of complex software such as SFM, by watching and reading things (like video tutorials) that others were kind enough to make. About a couple of weeks ago, I was driving myself crazy trying to accomplish this exact same thing. But after deselecting roottransform, right clicking on the model re-selected it again. I could not, for the life of me, figure out how to import without selecting roottransform. Only after repeating what you did in the tut did I finally understand what I was doing wrong. I was right clicking at the top of the model's hierarchy, which of course re-selects everything underneath it, including roottransform. Bone-headed move? Yup! But luckily there's someone here that's willing to explain the basics.
By the way, your tip on using a second model to act as an in-between for importing animations and pasting to the final model will be a god-send to me!
So again, thank you for your tutorials and help. I'm looking forward to more!

I know it is basic, but even I had to have learned this stuff somewhere. Prior to using SFM, I had done model conversions and such to Gmod, so I came in with some innate knowledge of Source. It is sometimes easy to forget how much people don't know. I am glad it is helping people out. ^^
Also, I see many people describing how to load their cycles in descriptions over and over. Maybe this can help by just providing a video and save the author the time of writing it out repeatedly.

Not to be a dick, but if you dont know how to do this already... Stop using SFM immediately.

Hate to start up such a hate message again but I need to say this. You are probably the most arrogant internet person I have ever met. You're essentially telling me that if I'm not good at something, I can't make it my hobby or do it just for fun? You either have to be a professional at it or not do it at all? Honestly, if you are pretentious enough to believe that you didn't start out new at one point like the rest of us, you really need to work on your people skills and sympathizing because as far as anyone else is concerned, you are just using your "just a realist" excuse with being a dick.

That wasn't really needed. People are not innately born with the knowledge of the Gods. Some people need more help than others, and I am not going to tell them to give up just because they have difficulty in understanding.

You know what would be a good tutorial? Particles, everyone likes learning about particles. Hell, I know how to make them but I always like to know more. How about something like that? Maybe it wont be pony related, but I think it would be more helpful. If the community is lacking anything, its particle tutorials.

I agree that there is a bit of a lack of information when it comes to how to make and use particle effects. To me, there is just way to much to cover. I know very little myself and have learned by just doing face-to-keyboard and seeing what happens. It was considered, but feel I need to learn quite a bit more before going teacher mode would feel comfortable.

I guess I am just use to finding out things on my own, trial and error. I think it's silly that someone would have problems with something so simple, seeing as I troubleshoot facial vertex's and corrupted models on the daily. I find it funny that people need their hands held on pretty much breathing. I usually like seeing your tutorials to learns something, not see something I know.. but, I guess every once in awhile there needs to be basic tutorials. Again, sfm is a tool, not a toy. So if people cant adapt, they arent ready for SFM is all im saying. Not being a jerk, just a realist.

Come on, seriously? Some people need extra help doing stuff, and just because you know how to use one specific skill because you had a knack for it, doesn't mean other people will. And, okay, you are used to working things out for yourself, but keep it to yourself. People who want to try something, don't know how to do it, and need a little help don't need people discouraging them.

I'm not discouraging them, I am just showing them how much more complicated this program can get if you cant do simple things.. If people take offense to that, then thats a personal problem really.

Well, then they've gotta figure out the simple things first, don't they?

Tutorials like these are needed for newcomers or those interested in starting.

Understandable but still, to dedicate a video for something so simple seems like overkill to me. I get people youtube a lot and it gets more exposure, but, idk. There are plenty of videos already out there about this stuff.. Sure it may not be pony related but the information is the same.

Sometimes the overkill is necessary. when you have not even used the leak, you need as much documentation as possible.
Plus if it's so simple, then why is this necessary?
Why do I need it? (And I do need it.)

Actually it's not really necessary. I just googled "how to import animations source filmmaker" and the first result was Valves official developer site telling you how to do it.
Why did you need this? You lack one of two things.. Common sense or motivation. Two of which you need when using SFM. Sorry to be so blunt, but you really have no excuse.

oh I could import the animation sequence alright, my real problem was extending it. That's why I needed this.
