From what I've downloaded more than once, your rainbow flare file has no extension; I can't get Photoshop to recognize it either... otherwise things have been flawless!

That rainbow flare will probably be seen to death after this, haha. It's a really nice technique. You'll have to find a new one not to look like a copycat of yourself now though

This is true.... Goddamnit. Well I'll just have to make a better rainbow flare then

Well unfortunately, I did't directly make a tutorial on the spectral flare, they're very easy to make though!

Or use Solar Cell by Flaming Pear and play with the settings. It's a useful plugin fully compatible with Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. [link]

arisechicken117 In reply to Spydraxis01 [2011-11-07 08:10:45 +0000 UTC]

I dont like using plugins. It's unoriginal. I prefer the full custom method of art!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spydraxis01 In reply to arisechicken117 [2011-11-07 20:51:45 +0000 UTC]

I use them for simple shortcuts they don't cover everything but your tutorial would have taken me 25 seconds. Now if I want to add flares and a haze effect that would take considerably more time. As far as unoriginal goes I think you may have it confused with the word Uncreative. As a professional artist time is important to my employers and often critical, if I can accomplish the exact same effect in one tenth the time why wouldn't I? For that matter why wouldn't anyone who seeks to do art on a professional level? I don't imply it's a better way but simply a huge time saver.

arisechicken117 In reply to Spydraxis01 [2011-11-07 21:07:56 +0000 UTC]

It's not about a time saver. You don't achieve good art by using other programs to do natural work. Good pieces take time, and it feels less "fake" to me to use natural filters and methods, then a program to press a couple buttons and then "done."
