Description 'Ring Rise' is my latest adventure in Unreal Engine 5.

You can follow me on Twitter (ArturSRosa) or on Instagram (artur_m_rosa). On Twitter I occasionally show details and other views of my images.

This image is for sale as NFT at knownorigin.io/gallery/1228700…

You can also see it there in full quality, less compressed than in DeviantArt.

There are several moving parts in this animation. You will probably need to watch it more than once to take it all in. Stars, planet, atmosphere, moons, grass, water, birds, bike, falling and rising orbs, and even a mysterious fluid...

Still images of ringed planets are extremely common but not so common are animations showing a ringed planet rise from the horizon of one of its moons. That's what I tried to depict here.

I know I have very attentive viewers here with plenty of knowledge about astronomy (which I don't have), so let me tell you upfront some of the details where I took some artistic freedom regarding astronomy:
- Moons orbit more or less around the equator of its main planet. So, a moon in the position where I have my moon is very unlikely. But reality is often stranger than fiction - just look at the axis of Uranus, for example, tilted 98 degrees. If we didn't know for a fact that it exists and some artist depicted it, everyone would say it's impossible.
- The atmosphere of gas giants don't swirl as fast as I depicted here. Let's just imagine an extremely active planet, perhaps with very active volcanic activity.
- The rise probably wouldn't be as fast, or if it is the planet rotation speed would be so high that it wouldn't look as peaceful. Namely, with or without high rotation speed, I know about the most likely fast and huge tides that would prevent such a calm little shore as I have here.
- The moons seem too large and if they are as close as they seem to the rings, they would disrupt them. Let's just imagine it's an optical illusion and they're not as close to the rings as they seem...

Please indulge me with these artistic freedoms. They are not too much of a stretch compared with a rainfall of glowing red balls, a sea shell with some animal inside that releases vapor bubbles, purple sand and turquoise grass that swirls in mysterious waves. And a strange technical artifact... and a gravity-defying bike.

I hope you can exercise some 'suspension of disbelief' and just enjoy the show of the rise of a ringed planet seen from one of its moons.
