This is a variation on my previous image:
The Colony of Virgo:
I got a bit carried away with the colors this time.

This is badass. It's clean, neat, and has good color scheme.

This has a very old school sci-fi vibe to it. I like it.

Thanks. Yes, many people comment that my images remind them of the covers of old sci-fi books. Although not consciously, that's most probably a big influence in my images because I must have read thousands of those books...

It is this color scheme that make the image so different, and yet very alive, and in an entirely different setting. Both are fantastic, but I am partial to this palette, so I must like this image better. That is hard to do, considering how much I like the "previous" image, "Colony of Virgo".
Very well done!

So this is fantastic!
How did you do your star field? Β Willing to share any secrets about that? Β Hints!

Thanks!
I made it in photoshop, with a mix of several free star brushes (there are hundreds in many sites) and a normal point brush with scatter on. I made some glow with gaussian blur and "soft light". Then, in Vue, I applied this image to an alphaplane and put 2 or 3 directional lights in the brightest places, to enhance the light there and cause a visible effect on the water (with just the alphaplane, the water didn't shine with that green glow that it has in some points). Then click render.

That sky is gorgeous. Space is so awesome!
Cool designs for the structures, looks very future-esque. I like the way you did the scenery, too, especially the water ^_^

I love it.....beyond the technical brilliance of so much of what you do, what I love even more is that you give us the beginning of a story, a jumping off point for our imaginations, and we are able to fill in the rest on our own.....

Both images are outstanding views of a future world
if our species survives that long.
