This is a few maps of Priapus Prime, the focus of my Priapus Prime Project and homeworld of the Brainstars . It is a warm, tropical world about 84% the size of Earth and 89% as massive. Despite being smaller and having less gravity, it's atmosphere is nearly twice as dense as Earth's and has a much higher oxygen content. It has significantly less complex tectonic activity, which causes heavy volcanic activity on either side of the planet. This creates thermal bulges, giving the planet to have a perfect 90 degree axis. This axial tilt prevents seasons as we know them, and makes polar ice caps impossible (in fact, ice cannot naturally form on this planet). For more specifics, check out the link above.

Priapus Prime has a 36 hour day, and completes an orbit once every 240 Earth days (160 Priapan days). It has a ring around in, and the subsequent ringshine causes the "nights" to be bright enough for plants to photosynthesize (though they do turn dark purple during this time, and then back to red when the sun rises). The thicker atmosphere makes the sky appear teal; when you can see it. A higher content of water vapor in the atmosphere causes global overcast most of the time, though every now and then there is a break in the clouds. The clouds, however, are thin enough that the sky normally appears to be a gray-green. As the sun sets on this planet, it starts out much like a sunset on Earth; yellow and orange and red. But those colors fade, and by the time the sun has reached the horizon the sky is a magnificent violet, even with the clouds in the way.

As you can see, there is pretty much only one continent on this planet (called, simply, the Continent), and the majority of it extends across the southern pole. Two sub-continents, the Peninsula and the Island, contain the majority of the planet's population as well as the civilizations that have had the biggest impact on this world. Because of the arid nature of the inner Continent, the majority of it is uninhabited (Brainstars respirate through their skin, so drier environments like deserts are hard to colonize). And because there are only two nations on it, world maps tend to be centered on the Island and Peninsula.

The shallow sea between the Peninsula and the Island recedes during the dry season, when the planet is closer to its star. During this time many "seasonal islands" and land bridges are exposed, allowing animals to migrate between the two sub-continents. In fact this is how the ancient Brainstars, who evolved in the mangroves of the Island, came to the Peninsula. When the planet moves away from the sun the rainy season begins (although really the seasons are more like wet and wetter), during which time tremendous superstorms ravage the shallow sea and throw many marine organisms onto land where they are fed on by scavengers and gathered by coastal villages.

Oh my god, that island on the side looks like a Space-Italy.

I noticed that too. Pure chance, no map of Earth was ever used in making this. It also probably has significantly more red foliage than Italy as well (probably; I've never been to Italy, but I assume the plants are green there like everywhere else).

Maybe a different form of Chlorophyll? Or 'Fall' for the planet? Idk.

I like this a lot, especially the part concerning its geology and axial tilt.

But I had to laugh when I saw the title... did you know that Priapus was literally the Greek god of erect penises?

Yes, yes I did. When I first named the planet all I knew is that he was the god and protector of gardens, fruit, and the harvest. It was only later, after I had really gotten into the project that I learned that he was also known for his enormous, constantly erect penis.

I should have caught that though. Priapus. Priapism. It's too late now. Besides, most of the fauna on the planet uses the same support system as a penis, so it's not all bad I guess.
