Description A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for TF: CYBERTRON Red Alert I scanned myself from the copy of the instructions that came with the toy, and then heavily edited by me.

Yet another comic-only Wrecker, Impactor. Had some trouble figuring out which mold to use for him. Was originally planning to use Mudflap, but after looking his pics over some more, It just didn’t seem to fit. After careful consideration, Red Alert seemed to be the best match to him. Shoulder cannons & removable hand weapons. Good enough for me. While I don’t think this one is perfect, I think it makes for a decent enough Impactor.

Oh, and again, continued using my “prototype” Wreckers key, heh.

Here’s Impactor’s page at the Obscure Transformers Website:

what I know of Impactor I've either (mostly) learned from you and/or found out by myself while parousing the net. I say this because I would never in a million years guessed that you'd give him Cyb Red Alert's body type. Ever. I looked at the vehicle mode first (as I always do) and when the pic finished loading, I was like: "What the hell... A mini-van?!? He's a tank-thing in the comics!"

But.

After looking at the 'bot mode and reading the description, I fully understand Red Alert as being chosen over Mudflap. 'Course, the Mudflap mold would have made for a meaner-looking robot, but it also would have looked kinda funky with these colors on him.

While I would probably agree with you wholeheartedly, that this does NOT seem like an impactor vehicle mode, in reality, Impactor's vehicle mode was never ever shown. It wasn't even "explained" like Rack 'N' Ruin's or Xaaron's. He just had a shoulder mounted gun. So it's assumed it was a tank-like thing, but I dunno. My old Armada Smokescreen repaint of him seemed to really fit in my mind, and that for some reason put the idea in my head that he is a crane truck. I guess thats why I was so set on turning him into Mudflap. But in the end, he really didn't have ANY features in common with him. Red Alert on the other hand...

Probably, CD Red alert would have been best, with the giant shoulder mounted missile, and even the mohawk-like crest on his head, but...thats what I was planning on using for Roadbuster so I decided against it. If my Roadbuster repaint doesn't work on that mold, I may just keep him as the CD Hotshot repaint, and turn CD Red Alert into a new impactor, but who knows, heh. Stupid indecision.

And if I WANTED to repaint him using G2 megatron, thats what i would have done. But i was making a Cybertron Impactor, and this is the mold I decided on.

A little close to Cannonball, if you ask me, but then agian, using Cannonball would make it easier to kitbash this guy, I guess. Hehe. Nice.

Not really, as the gold plastic is the only plastic thats the same, and i was trying to make mine a much "yellower" gold. I copied a couple of his paint apps though (like painting over the lights) but for the most part, stuck with red alert's deco

Yah, the gold is what was getting me.
