A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for Armada Thrust downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link]Now THIS is how the “Dirge-esque” Powerlinx Thrust SHOULD have looked. If you’re going to do an homage, DO it right. I can’t for the life of me figure out WHY they didn’t go with this color scheme rather then the brown they did use. It’s bright and flashy enough. There wasn’t anything incredibly similar released at the same time. I guess…they just really, really, REALLY wanted a poop brown TF, and rather then use one of the MANY military vehicles where a brown camo pattern WOULD work, they use the jet fighter. Hmm. Interesting choice. Anyways, I love how this looks, and think he’s just as good a Dirge as my Armada ‘seeker’ Dirge repaint. I’d kill for either of these toys.
Again, I dunno who the minicon would be, and frankly, I don’t think I care either. Hobo Dan, that’s his name.

While I agree with you that this is a really awesome repaint and that it does in fact look very nice, I kinda have a soft spot for your Seeker version you did a while back. I dunno, for some reason I don't get a real big Dirge vibe from this one...

Fine, but you asked for it. *hides inside large radiation and potatoe-proof concrete structure, then turns on the speaker on top of it*
Three words: Armada Sideswipe colors. (Ish! I can hear the grinding of teeth all the way up here.)
Besides, G1 Dirge doesn't have blue wings. The only seeker to have blue wings is Thundercracker. And don't get me wrong on this, It really is a cool-looking repaint, and the colors really go with Hasbro's current trend of eye-catching color schemes, but I prefer the actual toy colors to these (even if it has poo-brown colored wings.).
Maybe you could, I dunno, add large-scale paint applications to the wings, stopping just short of the dent right behind his head, where the Mini-Con holder is. Maybe? (Sorry, I'm not sure if there's a word to describe that specific thing.

Tried it. Didn't look good. At least, not when following the mold lines in the actual plastic. (I usually try lots of different ways to do things before I finally decide on the one I think works best and finish and post it. It isn’t often that a certain design aspect hasn’t at least crossed my mind slightly. At least not when trying to do a homage to a character.) And unless you painted the wings ENTIRELY, which is a bit overboard for a paint ap (I know there are some exceptions, like Armada Starscream. Somehow they turned him into a red jet, despite almost NONE of the jet mode is actually red plastic), there's no way to get the contrasting colors of the wings and body of G1 Dirge to work on this mold, not when the entire jet body is one color of plastic. This was the best I could do without going overboard with the paint apps. I'm still happy with it though. And it doesn't make me think of sideswipe at all. Dirge did it first and best. Sideswipe is just a pretender (no, not a TF "Pretender", heh).

Hmm. I see now how that could be over-doing it. Well, I guess you where right then. Besides, as long as you like it, who cares what others (like "special" little me) have to say about it.
Your still a damn good artist, tho'. Never let anybody say otherwise.
