Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for TF: CYBERTRON Wreckloose downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link] , and then heavily edited by me.Well, I believe ~SigmaCore wanted those Grotesque and Doublecross repaints to accompany the sweet looking, if not slightly misguided official TF: CYBERTRON Undermine repaint-as-Repugnus. While it looks kickass, I just didn’t think it was the best possible Repugnus homage possible. (No, that would be the recent TFU Repugnus made from BW Buzzclaw. Now THAT will forever be the quintessential Repugnus repaint…) I thought, while an inferior mold to Undermine, Wreckloose had more “Repugnus” featured then Undermine did. Barely. I think I might be almost entirely basing this opinion on the fact that he has those antlers/blades which almost halfway could be like G1 Repugnus’s mandibles/pinchers. So…I went ahead and did what I tried and hoped would be a better version of Repugnus. It also helped that I tried to make the color pallet a little closer to the original then the Hasbro version too. Anyways, I’m pretty happy with it. I think he makes a better Repugnus then the Hasbro version. Oh, there’s is a better TOY, no doubt, with the way better mold, and cool colors, but this is a much better HOMAGE. Anyways, hopefully he feels right at home with the other 2 of Sigma’s Monsterbots…

Im perfectly fine with what they used for Cybertron. Granted the Universe one IS better, but Cybertron version kicks a lot of ass too and I havent regretted my purchase for a second.
I have him hunched forward with his mouth open and he's breathing fire just like his original version. Repugnus is mean and nasty and that particular dinosaur looks perfectly able to be every bit as mean and nasty as the original.

Ah, what could have been. Still have yet to see a Cyb Repugnus here to add to my growing collection of Monsterbots tho', which really ticks me off. And you're right, while the Cybertron version is pretty incredible homage-wise, the Universe version is really something else. (Did you get one BTW? And whatever happened to the Constructicons?(returned or did DD let ya keep 'em ya lucky...)) I only which they'd had used Wreckloose as the homage since it's an exclusive mold (like Hardtop and Swindle) and kept Repugnus for someone else better suited for a raptor-ish beast alt-mode like Dinobot. Meh. Whatever. At least they're keeping the name alive, and that's more than OK in my book.
Hey, maybe I'll (eventually remember to) do a catalog scan that replaces the Pretender Dinobots with these guys, kinda like Hasbro did when they introduced them in 1987's toy line-up. Yesss...

Yeah, i bought me a repugnus/overbite 2-pack the same day i picked yours up. and yeah, i still have the constructicons. They're still sitting in the other room. I've resisted the temptation to open them thus far. I guess i'm going to try and sell them over ebay once the current batch dries up at target.
And yeah, i much prefer the Hasbro molds for repaints too, but i'd much rather get an Armorhide repaint before a Wreckloose one. And a Shortround. And the Giant Planet minicons. And about half of the regular Has/Tak basics... But anyways, yeah i think Undermine could have gotten a much better thought out idea like BW dinobot, or a g1 dinobot scheme. Hell, even an Overkill...or...say...i dunno...Trypticon?

Trypticon? My, I have no idea what you're talking about Assey. No idea at all...

Not bad, I still like the idea even though I also dig the repaint of Undermine (which I haven't found yet)

Yeah, i agree. I can't complain TOO much, cause that undermine repaint is sweet as hell looking. (I actually finally saw one just the other day, but passed on him to get Shortround and the wave 3 minicon packs). If i saw Hasbro's repugnus (as a different character) and my repugnus on the shelf next to each other, I honestly don't know which one i'd buy first. I dig the homage for mine, but as I said, the undermine one is just a much better toy in general...

Funny you mentioned it, I managed to pick up both Shortround and Habro's take on Repugnus today.^-^
To me, I just like the fact that the color scheme kinda evokes sort of a Decepticon feel to it, but the character's name is a homage to a kick@$$ Autobot.
Plus, I think Jungle Planet has the short end of the stick in terms of numbers...and I need my beast fix.

Heh, i'm saving up for those transformable Tf titaniums myself. That TC and Jetfire are freaking awesome. And it's about time we get a seeker thats NOT Starscream first and foremost.

Ya know, I do like Undermine, but his robot mode in no way says Repugnus. I agree that Wreckloose is a little better.

Yeah, thats exactly what i felt too, and I'm glad ya agree that this is a bit more of an appropriate Repugnus
