Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for Energon Slugslinger downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link]Last of the limb members of the “Gestalt Project” Technobots, is Strafe here. I must say, I was very disappointed with how this came out. In THEORY, could there EVER, possibly be a more perfect mold for Strafe then Energon Slugslinger? Strafe had a freaky, futuristic shape to it, and E Slugslinger mirrors that pretty closely. Yet still…it came out like crap. How could that happen you say? Well, I’ve deduced that it is IMPOSSIBLE to color Slugslinger’s mold into anything and it not look pretty crappy. Why is that? Well, because 80% of his robot mode is entirely made of ONE color of plastic. With all kinds of multi colored kibble on him. And his vehicle mode has all 4 freaking colors, spaced all over, in no real particular sense. It’s just too damn hard to make this mold look good. I’m truly impressed with Hasbro for making E Slugslinger’s official paint scheme look as good as it did, because this mold is freaking impossible to work with. So…I’m sorry Strafe didn’t work out too well. I still think this mold is the best possible one for him EVER, but…it would just take a whole lotta paint apps to make this thing look close enough to G1 Strafe. Stupid Strafe. Making the super-cool-thus-far Technobots have a loser repaint in them.

Dude, stop beating yourself over something you can't really control. The original designers over at HasTak are to blame for the monochromity of the main robot body, not you. And yes he's to red, but G1 Strafe had a lot of red to him too. (Well, the animation model moreso than the toy anyways.)
Still looks pretty good in my book.

Heh, thanks. and yeah, looking at the toy, I don't know WHAT HasTak was thinking when designing this guy. I'd really like to see THEM try to do a repaint of him and see how much luck they have with it, heh.

*wonders if he wants me to send ALL of them to him? 'ALL' meaning Devcon, Roadbuster, Brawn, Hot Spot/Defensor and Draco Megs. *

It mighta turned out better if you deviated from your dedication to the 'color-swap' method...but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Nope, can't do it. That's cheating. I'm very proud to say that any one of my repaints can be turned into an actual toy for TFU, and this is no exception. It may not LOOK all that hot, but at least it can be a purchasable toy. And Worse case scenario...it's STILL not as bad as all the Arm Sideswipe "repaints" (and i use that term very loosely)

Yeah, like that's ever gonna happen.
But it is still pretty good looking when you look at it from a 10 year old's point of view...
"Mommy! Mommy! Buy me that bright red jet so all my friends can see it and be jealous of me!!"
Or something like.
