Description The idea for this came from the contest: Fairy tales, organized by a member of the Enchanted forum (Eiko).

I chose the tale of Pinocchio: an enchanted doll plays the role of the good Fairy ( Fata Turchina). I imagined the two characters sitting within a theater while tiny fairies re-enact the story of the Collodi's book.

"Enchanted Dolls" belong to Marina Bichkova.

As usual this was done in Copic Markers.
Enjoy!

Made me think of :"Masquerade" a picture bookj with clues in the pictures that wouid lead to a golden treasure to oine who would deciipher them. Somewhere in England...

My copy was ruined by a flood and was finally discareded. The treasure WAS found long ago ...

I don't know why but I've always found the Blue Fairy a rather creepy character. Not that it's a bad thing for me, though ha ha ha ha.
This painting is awesome, the level of detail you put into all of your works is just incredible. Your style would perfectly fit into a children's book.

It's been a long long time since I read (or was read, I should say) Pinocchio...she was ok with me, although her continuous change of appearance must have been rather puzzling for poor Pinocchio...^^

Markers is a very cool vesch. But they probably still have to learn to work. It is lighter than water?

Astera-T In reply to Bastas777 [2010-06-15 18:29:46 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for the favorite.

In my experience, copics are pretty easy to work with...before buying them I did a lot of reading and I looked at various tutorials, so I wasn't completely unprepared. However, once they arrived I just sat down and started having fun right away (although I know I still have a big margin of improvement).

As for your second question, they are much lighter than watercolors and you can use them on pretty thin paper (they work even on printer paper, although I would not advise to use it). Does this answer your questions ?

Bastas777 In reply to Astera-T [2010-06-15 18:43:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I see your work just sun! We must also acquire such markers. I really like working in this style. How better to buy once a large set of 72 markers or buy one? All the pictures of large sets of markers. Do all these markers you use in your work or only selected you?
I do not ask so many questions? I have always been very talkative.)))

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Astera-T In reply to Bastas777 [2010-06-15 19:31:48 +0000 UTC]

I've got the 72 box set for my B-day, actually...and I am glad to have a huge palette available (you see how much I love colors).
There are people that do not need so many colors for their works, though. They'd rather acquire the colors one by one and build their own special collection.

Boxes might be a bit cheaper then buying the colors one at a time. However if you do not want to spend a bundle all at once and prefer selecting your colors, get them singularly. Some of the markers tutorials on DA suggest some must-have colors: it's a good starting point.
Hope this helps.

))))) Predatory smile and poterayu hands as a villain in the cartoon)) you gave a very good idea ))))))))) Birthday I had in August)))) This is a cunning move, you can spend a lot of money for once) I am glad that ask for advice, brainstorming and discussion of problems provide a fast and correct decision. Thanks for the advice.
You can even issue you a long time interest in drawing?

Astera-T In reply to Bastas777 [2010-06-16 02:45:53 +0000 UTC]

You are welcome! Glad to be of help.
I've been drawing since I was a child. However, this is not my career and I have not being drawing much in the past few years. I started again after I received my new markers last year as a birthday gift. Since I am not very experienced, it takes me a long time to complete a drawing (2-3 weeks...couple of hours per night).

Bastas777 In reply to Astera-T [2010-06-16 17:45:57 +0000 UTC]

If you draw from childhood that you have a 100% natural talent. I also draw from his childhood, but consciously remember only seven years. all children's drawings have not survived.))) It's a shame, I would have laughed at my scrawl))))Yes, this is a big problem-a lack of time .. Since I started working, the time I have almost as much, 1-2 hours in the evening. But a weekend may be gray all day))))
What is the theme of the picture you interested?

Astera-T In reply to Bastas777 [2010-06-16 18:06:00 +0000 UTC]

My parents kept only a few drawings from my middle school years. The rest was...better forgotten!
Yeah, working takes away a lot of time from art, but puts food on the table which is necessary ...I always count on rainy weekends for drawing too!
In these last few months I have been obsessed with bjd (the one by Marina Bychkova are amazing)...in general I like fantasy, fairytales, dreamlike themes, although I also like to do portraits (rarely of late). What are your favorite themes?

Bastas777 In reply to Astera-T [2010-06-17 16:59:29 +0000 UTC]

Correct, but it can be very afraid))) but I have survived my first still life that I drew once went into the artistic circle.))) Something in brown-green tones ...))))
I'm not complaining too much work, it is also related to drawing, I'm an artist cartoons. So I strongly do not complain, just grumbling.
As for finances, they will be useful that would be spent on pencils and paint and other uvlecheniya.A may I also look at the work of Marina Bychkova? Show me a link? Alas, I do not really like doing portraits in real style, only if fantasy style or anime style. I love little too anime fantasy, elves, cats, fantastic animals. Recently, I draw a lot of pictures for the soul with the heroes of my comics.
comic unfortunately I just can not bring myself to middle of painting.
You can ask more personal questions? I want to know more detail with whom I communicate. How old are you? What is your name, unless of course you do not prefer to use the nickname Name. Are you working or studying? In which country do you live? And what would be fair to these very same questions and answer:I live in Russia, I am 25 years old, I work as an artist cartoons. My name is Vita Panfilova.
