Description
8x10 inch oil on canvas3 hour Portrait Session
Once a month our local art society gets a model for a 3 hour session. Keeps the eye in and I have to work quick which is very different from working from photos. Still practicing after nearly 30 years.
Sheila is one of our members.

thankyou, 3 hours isn't long, as there are breaks and it probably is 2 hours, but I love the challenge. I have failures too, but I dont post them. thanks for the 'vibrant' as that is her personality.

why do we fear failure, imagine how more creative we could be without it. Paint is okay you can always paint over it, its a pure watercolour and ink pens that I fear
You take many more risks than I do and they are very successfull and exciting.

You are so kind!.....but I dread anyone asking me for something special...the last one I did took me 3 months to do and I felt sick every day
...It's a good job I don't do it for a living!

I agree, commissions are draining, I also spend more time and stress into those. Over the years I have done quite a lot of commission work, but I have finally been able to say NO, (friends exempted)

She is English and quite a lady. When someone poses that get a very serious/bored look, its difficult to smile for 3 hours. Thats where photos are better for expression.

She looks kinda stately though, it's a very fine portrait.
