Description
Good News For People Who Love Bad NewsDeviant Art doesn't like long winded titles apparently, so I had to shorten it.
I really liked the stylized bear mask worn by the Kuma character on Afro Samurai, so most of the character inspiration I owe to that. However, I'm sure that Cloverfield played some kind of role in the conception of the idea as well.
This painting took forever to finish as I'm not really fond of painting (or drawing) buildings, and I struggled with a bad case of artist's block somewhere at the halfway point.
I'm rather happy with the end result, though as is the case with almost every other piece in my gallery, there's about a million things I would have liked to change/do differently.
*note: a sequel/prequel/companion piece can be found here:

thanks for all the love!

This good man! The color, shade, theme, and the bear... I don't think there's anything missing that makes this good.

i don't know if you intended for this
but the buildings look like toy building blocks
to be fair i think it adds a greater sense of unity than if they looked super realistic
awesome work

Did you mean for the title to be from one of Modest Mouse's album? (I LOVE that album!)
Great picture!
