A painting from 1993 depicting an asteroid field orbiting a yellow star in an extrasolar system. The asteroid field is actually rocky material from the break up of a planet which once orbited the star in an eccentric orbit and was destroyed from a collision with another planetary body whose eccentric orbit eventually careened it into the primary planet. As more extrasolar systems are discovered and imaged in even greater detail myriad stellar and planetary phenomena shall surely be discovered.See More
