Hmmm... it was back in 2007 so it's hard to remember, but I don't think it was more than a few days.

Have you ever used Maya? Would 3Dsmax be a better program than Maya?

I exclusively use maya now, but that's entirely because I use a mac now, and 3dsmax isn't available on mac.
So, admittedly, it's been quite a few years since I last regularly used 3dsmax, but I always liked it better. I learned both Maya and Max in school, and used both professionally, and as far as modeling tools, I always liked max better, but maya is just as capable.

It is too bad that the max is not available for Mac, but I will check it out if it's better than Maya. Is the max friendly with other programs such as Z-brush, Adobe? Did you ever run into any problems when download, and installing Maya?

applying texture it's a really pain in the butt, don't you have a tuttorial for how apply texture more easyly?

Athey In reply to Nef-Darknigth [2009-10-29 21:01:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah - are you talking about unwrapping the model, or the actual creation of the textures? Or both?
This tutorial covers both - the unwrapping starts on page 9, which is here: [link]
But it's older and I unwrap the 'hard way' there. It's a lot easier to use pelt mapping, and this tutorial covers that: [link]

The programs I used for this are 3dsmax and adobe photoshop. There are demo's available for both programs. You can get the photoshop demo here: [link]
If you're willing to buy something, but can't afford the standard $600 pricetag for photoshop, you could try Photoshop Elements. It's $100 and has many of the same features - just simplified.
3dsmax has a 30-day trial that you can get here: [link]
Aaaand if you're more pirate inclined, I'd recommend downloading bittornado and paying a visit to the Pirate Bay [link]

this is awesome - when you say "self-illuminated" does that mean you painted in the shaded areas yourself?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Athey In reply to Pertheseus [2008-03-05 21:36:44 +0000 UTC]
Yup. All of the shades are hand-painted into the texture.

It's very well made, but you can tell the face skin is based on or from one of those dolls. The outfit is pretty cool.

Looking ace as usual.
Reducing the dark shading on the sides of the nose bridge would help the face in my opinion, but that's highly dependent on personal taste.

Damn fine, a really good game model, whats the poly count?
And the only thing missing would be some cloth physics, then again that is highly dependant on the game such a model would be features in. Anyway, very nice textures, brilliant work.
