Biology of Ultra Necrozma

“The Blinding One” like a species straight out of myth and legend, Ultra Necrozma is an awe inspiring feat of nature that has become deified by the people of the last surviving Ultra Spacien City. Despite its deific status there appear to have been multiple specimens recorded, including the shattered crystalline remains of a deceased Necrozma found during the excavation of Mount Lanakila in preparation for the Alolan Pokemon League Arena.

Given the moniker of “Ultra Necrozma” as the only example of a Necrozma in this state is the individual from beyond the Ultra Wormholes. This is in fact a Necrozma in its prime, if starved impurities and patina build up on the surface of the crystalline ultra beast, further preventing it from absorbing energy properly. A sufficient enough energy source such as proximity to a star, or hyper-bioenergetic Pokemon such as Solgaleo or Lunala, can allow Necrozma to “burn-away” this outer buildup. Necrozma, buch like Cosmog and Cosmoem is a highly specialized form of void ecology, their living crystal bodies appear capable of regeneration over time, though wounds to their main “core” or “brain” crystal are nearly irreparable. The crystalline body shows no visible degradation with age, and by all accounts may render Necrozma functionally immortal.

Necrozma appear evolved to thrive around stars, theoretically remaining at rest unless threatened or disturbed, feeding off of the massive levels of energy expelled by the host star. Using only the bare minimum of the energy they have absorbed to maintain a proper orbit by expelling energy in small bursts. Despite what is believed to be their lifestyle, it is unknown how they interact with others of their kind or reproduce. Additionally, the only observed individual appears to be hyper aggressive and more than capable of defending itself even in a weakened state. It is unknown how a Necrozma which has fed on the energy of a Solgaleo or Lunala acquires it’s draconic form, though it is theorized that it hijacks the cellular process used by cosmoem to determine its form due to environmental factors in order to create a suitable body.

Approaching a Necrozma at full power is tantamount to suicide, the hyper aggression remains even when it’s need for energy is sated, and it’s body emits massive levels of heat maxing out at an immense 5810.928°K or just around 5537°C / 10000°F. Its very presence ignites fires and melts stone, any individual unlucky enough to be close to Necrozma would be reduced to cinders in a matter of seconds. Water vapor in its vicinity is flashed to superheated steam in a massive explosion radiating outwards, though Necrozma seems unphased by shockwaves as its body temperature and psionic pressure support it against the impact. While appearing as a collection of superheated plasma when observed through thermal imaging, the body is composed largely of photons caught within its photo-kenisis, given shape by the bonded Solgaleo or Lunala. Its body ebbs and flows, undergoing constant movement as the super heated gasses, matter, and collected photons attempt to break away. Utilizing it’s psycho-kenisis it can prevent photons from ever reaching the eyes of every individual in roughly a 10Km (6.2mi) radius around itself as all photons are drawn into a single point, vanishing into the darkness. Soon after the area is drowned in pitchest black, a brilliant flash follows, and the energy transference of the photons super heats anything within a 15 meter (50ft.) radius.

Story:

Soon after the discovery of the N-Solarizers schematics we had heard back from the team who had been tasked with investigating the Altar of the Sunne. The scene was grim, none of Phycos team appeared to have survived their encounter with Necrozma when it arrived, though he appeared to mourn for their loss he was stalwart in his belief that they died for a noble cause. Some cause, massive destruction, loss of life, they invaded our world with the purpose of righting a wrong their ancestors committed, and all to restore their deity to its former glory! How could I not be mad, how could I not feel enraged that so much hardship has fallen on myself, my home, and in all this chaos I still had no word on my family’s safety… All I could do was occasionally turn my attention to my phone occasionally as we worked to calibrate machinery to replicate the effect of the N-Solarizer, the waiting was almost maddening, but nothing ever came through.

Meanwhile, more drones had been launched to survey the situation, with all interference gone Necrozma appeared to enter a state of rest, it’s patina burnt away from its body, it was now able to resume its natural process of absorbing solar energy uninterrupted. Settling in the ruins of Royal Avenue, suspended above the wreckage it did appear over footage to be a blinding star here on Earth. Footage had begun to appear online as this unknown starlike object could be seen from the other islands in the chain, which did not help the panic, several boats were stopped attempting to break the blockade to return to Akala Island. But we had our plan, the authorities would handle the unrest, we needed to make sure this worked first shot, we would likely not get a second chance at getting rid of Necrozma. Interpols quick action in evacuating the island was a godsend, with nobody around to disturb Necrozma it should remain at rest until we are ready to begin, god forbid somebody attempted to slip by the barricades and try to actually catch it!

But running “What Ifs” in my head would only stress me out, and there was already more than enough stress trying to replicate the functionality of that device on such short notice. We worked through the night, the drones periodically trading off with fully charged units to maintain a constant vigilance over Necrozma, which seemed to remain inert. By morning the next day we were exhausted but the machines were complete, several of Faba’s own research beacons had been repurposed for the task, saving us time as we began the task of moving them to the target destination: Poni Island. The destination was largely uninhabited, still in the event something were to go wrong an evacuation was ordered, if this worked everybody would be allowed to return home.

With the assistance of Ms. Wicke, we were able to procure an Aether Foundation helicopter to quickly move the equipment, as well as a pokeball which she entrusted to one of her workers assisting us. With the away team already there, taking care of the dead and ensuring the Wormhole Generator was still in working order we were set up and ready to begin by noon! All drones were launched, an entire team of Aether Foundation workers under the direction of Wicke remotely piloted theri drones to Akala. The goal was to poke and prod Necrozma into chasing the swarm, luring it into open water between Melemele Island and the Aether Foundation. From there a second deployment of fully charged drones would intersect and lure Necrozma the remainder of the way to Poni Island, where our trap was set.

The group pressed forward, where upon their arrival the first drone observing Necrozma dive bombed the innert Ultra beast, crashing into its crystalline body. As expected this stirred it from its rest, where it immediately flared up in rage, knowing better now the first detachment of drones stayed clear of the ensuing shockwave as the water vapor in the air flashed to steam in a sudden explosion. From the smoke and dust a burst of light disabled a second drone in an instant as Necrozma ascended into the sky, Its wings outstretched much like rocket fins, as they lacked the solidity to catch any wind on them. The drones buzzed close enough to get its attention without entering it’s immense heat output, the group was now enroute, Necrozma hot on their tail, they shifted and shuffled positions to avoid being taken out by another ray of light.

Two instances occurred where drones flew too close to one another in their effort to avoid being taken out, plummeting to the ocean below, however had the potential of being the most costly, the impact caused the two impacted drones to spiral out of control as their trajectory sent them towards Melemele Island, for a brief moment Necrozma followed these two drones as they sparked and sputtered out, thankfully due to the quick thinking of another pilot she was able to turn the drone around and slam headlong into the side of Necrozma’s head before losing the drone to the heat. This was enough for the beast’s attention to be drawn back to the remaining drones, whose numbers were moments away from being replenished. With the new drones arriving the group spread wider to avoid collision, drones operating on low power drawing Necrozma’s fire as the others took the lead, they were almost here.

From the Altar of the Sunne you could see the light dancing in the midday sky long before the drones could be seen, but they were approaching fast, those of us prepared to set the trap had donned silver fire-proximity suits to protect ourselves from the heat. Those of us who didn't get suits had to retreat via the helicopter before they were close enough for it to catch Necrozma’s attention. I on the other hand remained behind, my research and understanding of Ultra Wormholes made me the only individual qualified enough to operate the generator and ensure we got rid of Necrozma once and for all.

The moment of truth was here, the light was intense even through the protective mask, it was difficult to even see the controls in front of me. As the drones circled above us, centering Necozma in a prime position to make out move, I gave the signal and the switch was flipped. The machines whirred to life but nothing was happening, more drones were eliminated, debris falling all around us, he wasn't close enough, we needed to lure him in. I yelled over the comms only to be answered by a red light, almost invisible behind the glow of Necrozma’s body, the detective had taken an emergency flare from the helicopter as a precaution and fired it up into Necrozmas line of sight. Necrozma dove quickly followed by the drones attempting to intercept its attention again, time felt as though it had slowed to a crawl when in an instant Necrozma slammed into the Altar’s floor, the stone began heating up to an orange glow as grasses were burnt away. Looker dove back behind an outcrop of stone architecture to protect himself from the wave of heat, Necrozma laid on the ground shaking and undulating in on itself, being pulled apart it was trying to hold itself together. Like a cell undergoing mitosis, splits between the two halves began to form as its own crystalline body was acting against its will.

In a final flash, it was separated, Necrozma’s crystals shone a brilliant prismatic white, now free of the patina it was once coated in. But no sign of Solgaleo, were we too late to keep it from being wholly consumed? Necrozma was fighting to hold on to something but nothing was here except the crystal Ultra Beast. My thoughts were cut short as a flash of steam erupted from Necrozma, a gout of water spraying from a Blastoise raised by an Aether Foundation member was rapidly cooling the area. The soft chime-like cracking of microfractures appearing in Necrozma’s crystal body could be heard even over the torrent of water being unleashed. With our opening finally here I slammed down the button on the wormhole generator, a pulse could be felt deep within my body as space itself warped so close to me. Then at the center of the metallic arc a wormhole had sprung to life, debris and steam began to be sucked in as though it were a vacuum trying to equalize pressure.

With a final push the prismatic beast reached out gripping onto the sides of the generator, it knew what was happening, it lost its power and now it had been beaten back. I almost felt sorry for what we had done, after all it had been through, it was finally at some semblance of peace, but it was too dangerous, too aggressive to be allowed to stay like the Naganadels, like Cosmog. In the final seconds, as the torrent of water slammed against it, fighting to remain in our world, I could feel it, it was focussing it’s attention on me, and as I looked back I saw a small glimmer of hope. The hole which had been bored into its head in the past, the one I saw when it first attacked Lunala and Solgaleo yesterday, had almost entirely closed up. Perhaps it would be able to continue on somewhere more hospitable to it, I don't know if it can appreciate that its wound finally healed after apparent centuries, but at least I know some good came for it. Finally, the force of the void pulling and the water pushing against Necrozma was enough to force it through, I pulled the power from the device and in a blink the wormhole was no more.

Epilogue:

The wind blew, steam lightly drifted from the scorched stone where the water had cooled it, it was the first real moment of peace any of us had in what felt like months. Deactivating the N-Solarizer emitters the world was almost too quiet, nobody quite knew what to do with themselves after being so on edge. Pulling off the protective heat-resistant head cover I finally took a much needed breath of fresh air, then I heard Looker shout out, breaking the silence. Running over to see what it was I almost broke into tears, it wasn't Solgaleo, lying there on the ground was Cosmog. Maybe I will never know if this is Solgaleo reverted to a prior state due to the loss of so much of its own matter and energy, or an entirely new cosmog brought about through some unknown means. But, regardless of what it was, it needed my help all the same, took off the remainder of the head-proof suit and then wrapped my sweater around Cosmog, cradling it. It was time we went home.

Things slowly returned to normal, Royal Avenue was an absolute wreck, along with my facility but perhaps Wicke would be interested in working together? As the phone lines calmed down and people went home I was finally able to reach my husband who I was able to soon after meet up with. He had been looking out for some of the young trainers under his watch, ensuring they were safe, glad to know even in a crisis we can count on him to look out for others. A small part of me thinks he will never believe what I have been through but Cosmog is hard evidence to ignore, even if I have trouble believing it myself sometimes. Looker took Phyco and his remaining associates in for further questioning back at Interpol Headquarters, not sure there are any rules written for extradimensional criminals.

In the end I look forward to resuming my research, who knows what other alien life forms are out there! As terrifying as these last 48 hours have been, a part of me can't help but wonder what other surprises the universe has in store for us. Though, I think I would be alright if the potentially world ending catastrophes took a back seat for a while, and who knows maybe Cosmog has a few more plans to surprise us with of his own.

This has been Professor Burnet with UB Report,

signing off.

UB Report: Ultra Necrozma Shiny

----------------------------------------------------

Thank you all so much for your patience with this series, thank you to those who have supported and if you have read the story from start to finish im so sorry you had to deal with my horrible writing skills lol.

This story certainly blew up into its own thing, where originally it was only supposed to be biological information on each UB it just... evolved!

This isn't the end for UB stuff though, I will likely do more report entries in the future if new UBs are ever announced. And in the future I will likely do more scenes featuring UBs in nature or something similar to "UB Report: Ascension"

I look forward to coming up with a new project to begin sharing with you all soon and again, thank you all SO much for following the series!
