A failing actor turns himself into a monster. Basil Karlo isn't very complex, both in his story and in his head. The way I see it, he's just a thug with powers. His therapy sessions don't go well. He likes to change his face and act like different people each time. He even turns into me sometimes. It's unnerving. He's as malleable as silly putty, the ability to alter his shape and size at will. He can look like anyone he wants to, and turn into nearly any weapon you can think of. He's also incredibly durable. Combine that kind of power with an inferiority complex and what does Gotham get? Clayface. He knows his crimes are evil, he just doesn't care; this shows from the downward spiral his sessions have taken. He'll never be let back out into the world the way he is. And in my professional opinion, the world is better off without him.
