Description
ARKHAM FILESINMATE NAME: Edward Nygma (also Eddie Nashton)
ALIAS: The Riddler.
It's no small wonder this man has gone through so many therapists. Just listening to him speak gives me a headache during our sessions. He is, as he so often likes to point out, a genius. He could have done anything he wanted, but turned to crime. He is obsessed with puzzles, riddles, and games of all kinds to the point where everything he says is a riddle of some kind. I believe he has a deep-rooted inferiority complex which causes him to show off his intellect so others will acknowledge his superiority. An odd mental quirk results in Nygma's compulsion to leave clues to his crimes in the form of riddles and puzzles. I believe he secretly wants to be caught, though he will never admit it himself. He claims it is to prove he is smarter than the Batman, by one day stumping the Dark Knight with an unsolvable riddle. He projects an intense rivalry onto the Batman, the primary source of his obsessions. It is my professional opinion that, with extensive treatment to wean him off his riddles and his hatred for the Batman, Edward Nygma can be successfully rehabilitated into society.
PROGNOSIS: POTENTIALLY CURABLE

I'm guessing since there was 440 riddles in Arkham City, there will be 600 to maybe 1000 Riddler trophies, riddles and physical challenges in Arkham Knight.
My Prognosis: Possibly curable if Batman will ever give him 'The Real Reason You Suck Speech' to Riddler.

Here's an interesting one I conjured up. 11 minus 5 plus 0.5, I'm mostly black with red on top with a touch of white in between. Who am I?
Here's a bit of a hint, you'd know the answer immediately if you're a fan of the anime Bleach.

Red? The bear is a popular figure in Russian folklore, and red is a popular color in Russia, particular with the USSR.

Trick question. The only way all four walls could point north is at the south pole, which means the bear has to be a polar bear, except that polar bears only live in the north arctic.

There was a Batman comic I'm told, where Riddlers tells Batman that he didn't MEAN to leave him any riddlers this time, he had no intention of going back to Arkham. He actually goes along quietly with Batman because now he thinks he might actually need therapy.

Yeah, and he's also reformed a couple times. Before the big reboot, he had gone straight and became a private detective, even helping Batman out a couple times. It was cool!

Definitely my second favorite Batman villain after Mr. Freeze.
I love your descriptions for the Arkham Files but I have to say that I disagree with the prognosis (then again, I don't know much about psychology except maybe a few disorders. Me and my brothers always joked that you can tell what kind of mental disorder someone has if you compare them to a Batman villain). I don't think Riddler's curable because I always believed that Riddler's problem isn't his obsession with riddles but his enormous ego and compulsive need for attention. Also, as Arkham City has shown, he also lacks empathy since he's willing to put innocent people through deathtraps just to prove deathtraps and he said that in Arkham Asylum that it was their own stupidity that got them killed.
Still, great artwork. Really wish we can see more Arkham files in the future.

Well, it depends on which version of the Riddler we're talking about, I guess. XD The comics Riddler and Animated Riddler usually doesn't endanger innocent people, his vendetta's always personal against Batman or someone else. And the Riddler was cured in the comics (dunno how long it lasted, haven't read any comics in a long time), and he became a private investigator who helped Batman out a couple times. But he was only cured of his riddle obsession, even as a "good guy" he was still an insufferable dick. XD

You're right, it does depend on what version of the Riddler we're talking about.
While you're right about the animated version, I think whether or not Riddler endangers innocent people depends on who's writing him. I'm not entirely sure because I haven't read comics in a long while (I prefer animated adaptions or video games since they can usually condense everything and make them less convoluted. Damn you, Jeph Loeb.)
And that's why I think the Arkham games made Riddler one of my favorite villains. It showed that he wasn't that harmless and could be just as much as a monster, maybe even worse than the Joker. (Same thing goes for Penguin).
Also, what you describe I think lasted for about a year or two before the whole "New 52". From what I read on wikipedia, apparently Riddler snapped, returned to his old ways, and went on a killing spree. And honestly, is anyone surprised. Every time a villain is reformed or a hero is killed, it's not a change, it's a countdown for things to go back to normal. There are just too many examples to list.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I agree about Arkham City, I LOVE what they did with Riddler and Penguin. Penguin went from a rather harmless B-lister to a totally loathsome scumbag. Beating the crap out of him was so satisfying. XD
