The characterizations of Link and Zelda you see here are from the 1989 Zelda animated series. Personally speaking I would let Zelda save me any day!

My favorite series out of the classic video game cartoons, I don't know why so many people hated this. I'm so glad I got the whole season recently on DVD <3
I really loved Zelda in this series, she wasn't completely helpless like she tends to be in the games, and there were times she fought along with Link.

I don't get it either, I grew up with it before there was any real characterization of Link, Zelda, etc. I thank that may have been it for other people.
I'd love to see a game based around these characters, or even just a cameo in something like Hyrule Warriors!

I did too XD I got my NES when I was 3 back in 1989 and this was like my second or third game for the system. So for me this was the very first thing that ever suggested really Link/Zelda shipping as I didn't have Zelda 2 yet, in fact when I got that game all I kept thinking about was this cartoon when Zelda kisses him in the end XDDDD
