They're thylacines, AKA tasmanian tigers, presumed extinct since 1936 (though there are rumours that some survive hidden in the wild).

I hope dumb ass humans didn't hunt them all. Humans reeally suck some times. I think thats part of my attraction to Furries. They have human forms but not the tendncies for evil. Most of the time pople draw them as symbals for youth, love, health, and happyness.

Alas, but humans did. When humans came to Tasmania, they brought sheep with them to raise. Thylacines liked sheep because they were easy to kill. Humans put a bounty on their heads and within a decade they were all dead. The last died in a zoo...
There's been recent discussion of cloning one--they have a thylacine embryo (since they were marsupials) preserved, but it's a MASSIVE controversy and I'm not sure how it'll pan out.
I have a fair amount of thylacine knowledge and a little art in my gallery, as Anita up there *pokes her* is my fursona...
And yeah--furries are nice. It's good to get away from our idiot species occasionally.

This really is fantastic. *hugs self and Dervy* I love the expressions--you caught dearie Anita ((*smirk*)) perfectly--the pose, the wardrobe, the squared-off shoulders, the green eyes, the markings. It's 100% Anita Fenshae. Especially the fact that I look like I'm torn between smacking him and considering the offer. I'm not sure how you read my mind, but the hand position is a very me-like thing to do; whenever I'm nervous I tend to pop my knuckles with my thumb, and do all sorts of other odd things with my hands.
And pervy dervy...well, dude, he's muscley, leering, and wearing a loincloth, who WOULDN'T want to shag him? *cackle* That EXPRESSION...very wolfish smile there, absolutely perfect. *eats him*
