Description
Random giftpicture for Pyrene on Harper's Tale MOO. It's her gold, Cadgwith. She didn't come out quite as "ocean"-y as I'd have liked but...overall I'm pleased with the result.Drawn in OC, colored in Photoshop.

Hah! I go merrily browsing for pern dragons and find my own Cadge! I think I told you how much I liked it when you first drew it, but just to repeat, she's gorgeously monstrous.

Nice coloring job, and the eye really does look need. She's a little lumpy for my liking, and the eye too small, but that's just my own interpretation of the beasties.... I have a picture of a very angry gold that I haven't colored yet. I was kinda scared to because if I did, I'd want to post it, and if I did that I thought Ms. McCaffrey would find me and sic her lawyers on me.... -..-

She's sort of supposed to be lumpy. Cadge isn't the prettiest gold in the Weyr. Other than that, I supposed I just like my dragons to have a lot of facial structure. As for the eye, well, I like them small. It makes sense to me, and I always think that some dragon designs with the eyes taking up half their faces look terribly...odd. Gaudy, almost.
But thanks

Ohh, she's beautiful! You got the faceting in the eyes just right! Makes me a little sad, though, as I'm about to sell all of my Pern books because I'm a pobre and I need money.
I saw a couple of spots that seemed to have scirbbly markings on them - was that on purpose? In the hollow under the knob and on the dewlap.

Yup, that's my way of uglifying her a little, as well as adding a bit of the greeny hues that I thought would give her a little more of an oceany, briney look.

Man it's been so long since I've read those books.. and drew fan art... This is a GREAT rendition of Anne McCaffry's dragon!

Very cool. These are just awesome. I love seeing Pernese dragons. I've tried drawing my green, but I can't make it look the way I want.
