I randomly was going through my gallery and found the first image of Skade I'd ever done, so I decided to draw an updated version of her and compare. I love doing progress pics. I gotta say...I'm pretty pleased with how I've come along in three years. I can't wait to see where I am in another three.I will upload just the new Skade to scraps later, or possibly do it here and kick this image back to Scraps, since it sucks compositionally XD

Not to sound strange or anything, but:
How doe she put her shirt on with those fingers and skin flaps that make up her wings? Shouldn't the shirt be fastened on the sides under the flaps, with a big hole running from the the fasteners to the top "sleeves"?

Always a problem with bat characters, and sometimes I tend to just ignore physics or draw her naked. But this time I did take that into account and if you look at her hip, you can see a little bow on her hip where the shirt is fastened just under the wing-flap (it's receding behind her body somewhat).
So in essence, what you said is exactly what I did.

A good ref pic to work from at last XD ^^ I'm in the middle of drawing a pic for a friend and she's a bat too, a pink bat I might add ^-^ I hope you don't mind me using this for a ref I'm just looking for somthing that has good veiws of wings and feet and a good nose too, I can't draw noses XD this is a good pic I like it! keep up the good work.

Looks like the same progress my girl went through. Her wings still have an additional two fingers on the hands though. ^^ I love the toes, nice and spindly for grabbing.

I think it's kind of an ongoing, generic theme. I didn't realize it was a "fad", nor have I seen anyone else do it recently. Was that supposed to be an insult?

Hehe, Nice. The interaction between them in expressing artistic skill being equal to a sense of your characterβs intelligence is rather amusing.
Youβve made a lot of improvement in three years, with an increase of detail, great improvement on lighting and shading, and I would mention coloring, but I think these two were painted in two different programs (the edge of 2003βs wing makeβs me think Mspaint) but even so, I still think I can fairly say that youβve improved on your coloring abilities too.
Speaking of coloring, I felt 2006βs Skade lips and the leathery membrane of her wings came out very nicely. I felt you did a good job on the clothing too, as the pants have a nice array of folds and the overall garbs have an excellent sense of lighting and shading.
Very well done Skade, and congrats on your progress as an artist. ^^

It's always good to see the process of ones own previous works. I like seeing the changes in this one for the character, mainly in her design and in the lighting.
