Did you really have to make a reference to that shitty movie that sucked as both a Godzilla adaptation and as monster movie in general?

That was the joke, Godzilla will beat up anyone who mentions that piece of shit. (sigh) Oh well, if there's one thing I learned from The Joker is that the down side of comedy is that you'll always get shots from folks who doesn't get the joke.

That 1998 Godzilla was garbage, but Godzilla him self wasn't that bad looking, kinda cool actually, the size was kinda pathetic.

That thing you're mistakenly calling "Godzilla" has been renamed - legally by Toho, the character's new owners - Zilla. But yes, Zilla sucks as Godzilla, he's not worthy to live up to the kaiju king's name.

Oh didn't know that, cool. So the true abomination wasn't "Zilla" but the humans in the show, they where so bad at well everything that by the end I wanted "Zilla" to squish them, that is the true abomination of 1998, and "Zilla's" lack of size doesn't help. Seriously Godzilla can squish him by accident .
Are you existed for 2014?
I am.

Awesomeness360 In reply to Smerfhunter [2014-04-21 16:00:28 +0000 UTC]
Actually, the TRUE abomination of GINO (acronym referring to the movie title) was the lack of loyalty and respect to the source material, Emmerich/Devlin had no respect for the original Godzilla, and they were only interested in making money off of Godzilla's names, they didn't care for the character and what he symbolizes, they didn't give a at all. What's worse is that the project originally was going to be like THIS >> americankaiju.kaijuphile.com/a…<< this is the original script >>www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/G… and it was originally going to be directed by Jan De Bont, and the dumbasses from TriStar said "Fuck that shit, let's hire that idiot who made Independence Day, sure he's a bad director and doesn't like Godzilla, but I'm sure he'll do a bang up job", and ended up making a shitty movie that completely stays away from the source material.

Now that's a response,
Don't go under the impression that I'm defending Zilla 1998, I'm not at all.
What would have made the movie from a piece of crap into a polished piece of crap is if Zilla squashed Matthew Broderick on the first monument they crossed paths....
still a piece of crap, but it would be a polished piece of crap.
oh this comic is definitely a favorite, do you know of any others of a similar nature?

I don't know, it still wouldn't have made a difference, if you ask me.
Like I said, that comic you saw there is the visual version of the original TriStar script, which was a lot more faithful to Godzilla than the GINO movie. Feel free to read the script anytime you want.

I like it.
I personally still refer to 'Zilla Junior' as Godzilla, just because it returned Godzilla's trademarked characteristics to the character - including his atomic fire (complete with flashing fins), tough hide, regenerative powers and his 'never back down' attitude. Of course, this is just my opinion, so please don't have a go at me as i can understand why many fans prefer to see them as separate Kaiju.
I loved what Matt Frank ( )did with Zilla Junior in his 'Godzilla Neo' series (which merges the Godzilla films and some other of Toho's works into a single continuity). In the G-Neo series, Matt has made Zilla Junior into an honorable kaiju who was even able to go toe-to-toe with Godzilla for a while before later becoming the Monster King's ally.

I'll be respectful to your opinion, but Zilla Jr. may have resembled Godzilla a bit more, but he's still trademarked as Zilla, and said trademark applies to all incarnations. But honestly, Zilla is just better off on his own, because that way he has a better chance of being a more respectable kaiju, but as Godzilla, that distinction goes to Legendary's Godzilla. That's just my two cents.

I Love Zilla as a Kaiju, and Zilla Jr even more. But as a Godzilla incarnation, he does not qualify. His movie was fun to watch, even with its plot holes. I feel bad for him when people insult him. It was not his fault he that he was given a title he did not fit. I am glad that he finally got a role in the IDW comics, even though I don't know where to purchase them.
I Love Zilla, he is a cool monster.

I have the same thoughts on Zilla, he's great as a kaiju, but he just sucks as Godzilla. But my hatred is directed more on Emmerich and TriStar for raping the source material, but I'm just happy Legendary is taking Godzilla very seriously.

Awesomeness360 In reply to o0-MONFACTOR-0o [2014-02-26 05:56:10 +0000 UTC]
"1998 Godzilla" is called ZILLA, Toho owns both character and design. The name "Godzilla" doesn't fit for Zilla, and is not deserving of the name for taking the "god" out of "Godzilla", unlike Legendary's Godzilla, THAT one puts the "GOD" in "GODZILLA". However, that doesn't mean Zilla, just him alone, gets complete hate, ever since Toho took ownership of the character, he's become more accepted to the kaiju family, the problem is how TriStar handled the Godzilla character and the source material, they treated it like a joke and didn't realize Godzilla has a lot of potential, thus not taking advantage of what they had, Legendary Pictures is quite the opposite, they acknowledge Godzilla has potential, and they're taking advantage of what they have. My point is, as Godzilla, Zilla sucks; as an independent kaiju, Zilla is pretty good. The hate in more directed at TriStar and Emmerich than Zilla.

Nobody said Zilla has the worst design as a kaiju, his design is great as just a KAIJU design, but as for a GODZILLA design, yeah, it sucks donkey . But the main reason why does TriStar's film gets a lot of backlash, and with good reason, is because they disrespected the source material to a spectacular degree, TriStar and Emmerich has already shown, admitted, and made it very clear they don't care about Godzilla, so imagine how that makes us G-fans feel that a studio made a movie about a character they never liked in the first place. But unlike TriStar, Legendary has already proven that they really are fans of Godzilla, they always promoted themselves as "fans at heart", and the new film shows they are true fans of the source material, that alone makes the entire fanbase, like me, very happy.
