Description So let me get this straight: when Toho gives MechaGodzilla a total mess of a cosmetic that looks like Bayformers Megatron face fucked a really bad Picasso painting and leaves us a hard time trying to tell what the HELL it is, it's okay "becuz Toho con du no wr0n9"; but when Hollywood gives MechaGodzilla an appropriately updated/modernized cosmetic while staying true the character's classic silhouette while also paying tribute to Ohrai Noriyoshi's Heisei poster design UNDER TOHO'S REQUEST, fans freak out in a fit of rage "CUZ IZ MADE BY HAALLYWUD!!"?

That is some seriously messed up double standard right there.

The directors of the Godzilla: Monster Planet trilogy haven’t even seen any Godzilla movies.

Why should I care? At least Spielberg mad designed a MechaGodzilla that is both updated and modernized while keeping true to the classic character silhouette and, by Toho's request, have some resemblance to Ohrai Noriyoshi's. At least Steven Spielberg for the most part is someone who actually respects other storyteller's creations, passion, and artistic vision (this is the same guy who still believed in George Lucas when everyone else told him that Star Wars was gonna be the worst movie in history, and the same guy who saw potential in Robert Zemeckis' "Back to the Future" script when no one else would take it), and he at least was respectful enough to pay tribute to Godzilla in the last 20 minutes of The Lost World: Jurassic, where did we have that when Sony/TriStar and Roland Emmerich made their piece of shit?

"tribute to Godzilla in the last 20 minutes of The Lost World: Jurassic"

?

"where did we have that when Sony/TriStar and Roland Emmerich made their piece of shit?"

I get that and i don't think anyone really doesn't disagree with that; but my point is that Spielberg doesn't like Godzilla... (but hey i could be wrong)

"MechaGodzilla that is both updated and modernized while keeping true to the classic character silhouette and, by Toho's request"

So they actually got the rights to Mechgodzilla?! Also why like a Mechgodzilla thats non-canon verses on that is...? (But hey thats your opinion as i have mine, so touché)

• There was a small Godzilla Easter egg San Diego rampage sequence. Spielberg wouldn't put that in unless...(gasp) he actually had respect for the character. Oh, and to add, Spielberg did had respect for the series that he refused to see that '98 crap fest, because he actually respects Ishiro Honda and Tomoyuki Tanaka's legacy. And yes, that story IS true.

"but my point is that Spielberg doesn't like Godzilla... (but hey i could be wrong)" Well, so far what I've seen in both JP and RPO is unlikely. And even then, why should I care? Ray Harryhausen allegedly didn't like Godzilla either, but that doesn't take anything away from him, I still love Harryhausen and respect him as a special effects legend. What is it that you're trying to prove here, or rather, what is it that you're trying to take away from all this? Because no matter what, I still love Spielberg and respect him greatly, and nothing's going to change that.

"So they actually got the rights to Mechgodzilla?!" Yes, they got the character rights. They LITERALLY call him by name in the movie and they LITERALLY say it in the end credits, and it reads: "MechaGodzilla licensed by Toho Company Limited". Questions like that make me even wonder if you even watched the movie at all.

"Also why like a Mechgodzilla thats non-canon verses one that is...?" Because it's the character in general no matter what, and because I CAN. But if you wanna know more, check it out here.

"There was a small Godzilla Easter egg San Diego rampage sequence. Spielberg wouldn't put that in unless...(gasp) he actually had respect for the character."

Maybe one of his personal added it cause they liked it as opposed to him...

"What is it that you're trying to prove here, or rather, what is it that you're trying to take away from all this?"

To possibly point out that allegedly Steven doesn't like Tousatsu compared to other filming techniques...

"why should I care?"

I'm not saying that you have to change your opinion on to fit mine, i was just pointing out that allegedly Spielberg doesn't like Tokusatsu compared to other movies and techniques... (aside from the fact its alleged by some sources in RPO wikipedia article that its deception of pop culture and its people is regressed)

But hey what do i know or care? It's similar to somewhat ongoing debate/argument on which Godzilla is better the Japanese or the American (one)...

Also Hollywood... (cause we ALL KNOW how they are at "excellent" films lately... (#sarcasm )

Dude, you're just wasting your time pointing out something that has no meaning to me in the long run. I've never seen anything from him that says "I hate Godzilla", and even if he did I still wouldn't care. At least he still respects other people's creativity and passion, and he doesn't go out of his way to butcher someone else's work to prove a point, something Emmerich did.

And at the very least, Ready Player One's MechaGodzilla is more true to the classic than whatever the hell that junkyard of an abomination the anime version was. It's such a ginormous scrapyard that I can't even tell what's what.

♪I still don't care.♪ It's just a bad design overall and doesn't get anything on what I say in *these.

* What Makes a Character Design Unique? GODZILLA What makes a character design unique and stand out from the norm? What is it about the design that will always maintain resemblance and recognizability? It is not cosmetics nor small details; they’re just little things that don’t matter in the long run. It’s by the ability to instantly recognize them by the shape of their silhouettes. No matter how many times you’ve changed the character’s cosmetics in so many iterations, they will always maintain the same iconic, recognizable shape. You can always tell a certain character looks very unique when its design separates it from the rest of the traditional and makes it stand out more.

Here is what makes GODZILLA specifically unique in design.
First of all how GODZILLA’s unmistakable shape separates him from his real life counterpart…

Well those are Godzilla and Kong compared to Mechagodzilla... (but i get it, also i get Mechagodzilla is based off Godzilla's design; hey question why not make a critique about What Makes Mechgodzilla Unique? Just a suggestion)

But in general i want this argument to end, so my thing above is a suggestion and point out... (FYI)

So if you're toho and you made changes then it's ok? But if you're not toho and you made changes then it's not ok? Seems legit.

It is the other way around, but I did it as a response to some haters who dislikes the design for unfair reasons. Plus, I was unaware that RPO's MechaGodzilla design had a generally positive reception.
