An actual scene - Yes, that's the actual scene, and that was the official fight between Godzilla and Zilla, but give them a break for at least trying with the CGI, the technology for that effect wasn't so advanced at the time as it is now.

Actually, I don't think they did it on purpose, the CGI was just poor looking at the time, some other films' CGI looked very poor, but the technology for the effect improved overtime. youtu.be/oGOX_FdEccc And to be fair, there's a few things CGI can do that sadly practical effects can't, but I think every effect has both advantages and disadvantages.
But honestly, do you REALLY care about a bunch of smoke and mirrors? They're just tools that help illustrate a story and/or characters, in this case Godzilla, it doesn't matter what effect is used to illustrate the character, the only important thing is the character itself. I really don't care about the rubber suits or CGI, I only care about the character, if you ask me.

Well true, it only matters if the story is well written and the characters are interesting, I was just pointing out that I thought they made it look bad on purpose, which they apparently didn't. But the point is that CGI and Suitmation, either way, it only partially helps a presentation. I was merely stating in that particular case, but anyways you are correct.

TriStar's 1998 movie was a HORRIBLE, UNFAITHFUL adaptation to the Godzilla franchise, and fans, like myself, hate it because it disrespected the source material the movie was based on, and what we got in the end was Zilla, a coward that runs away from the army when the real Godzilla would never do that. TriStar treated Godzilla like a joke, and they didn't care if they disrespected the legacy Toho has created, as long as they made money off of it, that's all it mattered to them, and Roland Emmerich was never interested in Godzilla either, he admitted he hates everything about Godzilla and the source material, that's why he strayed away from it, and that's why there was no effort in the film. TriStar's movie is a disrespectful adaptation, the joke is that if you even utter the year that waste of film came out to Godzilla, he'll tear you to shreds, because he hates that movie. I know I just killed the joke by explaining it, but you deserve the explanation, at least.
Also, we G-fans call TriStar's '98 creature "Zilla" because that's the name that has been given by Toho since TriStar's Godzilla license expired in 2002.

No dude, that's wrong, what said was an actual true story, we fans don't call him "Zilla" because we reject TriStar's shit so hard that we refuse to call it "Godzilla", we call it Zilla because Toho DID renamed the '98 creature "Zilla" after TriStar's rights expired in 2002, and if they said "We're renaming it 'Zilla' because it took the 'God' out of 'Godzilla'", then we will call it Zilla for now on.
