WELCOME BACK TO SAUCEZ REVIEWZ: POKEPASTAS SERIES.

Someone suggested I review a Pokémon Violet pokepasta to celebrate the release of the gen nine games. So, I found a pokepasta called "Pokémon Violet". I'm going to go ahead and review it for that reason alone. Don't worry, I'll be back finishing my delayed Halloween Special ASAP and I'll try to have the rest out before December. xD

Pasta Name: Pokémon Violet  by ????

Publish Date: March 5, 2015

Synopsis: The protagonist gets an original Pokemon game that oddly connects to real-life events.

Fun Fact: This game allegedly isn't based on a specific Pokemon game from the series, but an original Pokemon game

Highlight: The ending

Quote: “We'll be going to do some errands, so you will be home alone for a while." -The Dad

So it starts off with the protagonist getting a game called "Pokémon Violet" for her birthday, bought by her dad that he ordered off of the internet. She was confused by this because it had a silhouette of what looked like an Absol on the cover.

The introduction was different, with a shadow charging through a forest that looked like an Absol. The protagonist was thrown off when it was shown that a sprite that looked exactly like them was inside of the game in the game. It jumps straight to professor Oak talking about the world of Pokémon. She named her character Violet after the game Pokémon Violet.

The game started as a pixelated layout of the protagonist’s living room. Protag was thrown off, wondering who was stalking her at this point. Things got stranger when Violet’s dad walked into the room in the game and said he was going to run errands. He looked exactly like the protag’s real-life dad.

With those pixelated graphics? I doubt it. It's confusing what the graphics are supposed to be like for the game in this pasta because it's said the game has sprites which I assume are like 2D-sprites or 3D models given some of the details we are told about what the sprites show.

The dad sprite looked not at Violet’s sprite but at the player. “see you soon, Rebecca.” He knew the player’s name. Rebecca was shocked and confused by this.

Rebecca’s father came into the room to ask how she liked the new game while smiling. Even though she was creeped out, she admitted she would have fun with it. “I like it.” “Oh, so I bought you the right game! Man, they said, 'take the game for free! I was a little shocked by this, but it had the Pokémon logo so I took it and a couple of other copies too.

The only thing I was worried about was that the name wasn't very familiar. I didn't think it was from the regular game franchise. At least you like it!” the dad replied.

Free stuff on the internet is always a red flag to begin with. The fact that the dad wasn’t too weirded out by how Violet wasn’t a common title says a lot.

There was no music playing. The player resumes playing the game when it shows their sprite looking at the television, preparing for their adventure. The door was locked in-game, and the textbox said there was nothing good on television. They got the character to look outside of the window. It shows a scene where Absol s a strong signal from the player in the game to follow them into the forest as the character is looking outside the window. There was a set of two glowing red eyes to indicate the Absol.

The player had her character go to the woods when she saw the Absol and walked up to them. It bounded into the trees, and her character followed. Then the screen faded again.

A dialog popped up. "Several days passed. But one day..." This time skip was very abrupt

She heard a scream in-game that sounded like an Absol, listening.

The screen faded back to show Rebecca's in-game sprite, crying over the Absol. It hurt bad, and how it was positioned against the rock made the protagonist realize it had slammed against it. There was an evil, echoing laugh- Giovanni's laugh. The protagonist saw him there with his Graveler. "Give up now?" he said, then laughed some more.

Laughing sound effects from the game, huh? Well, gen 1 did that with Pikachu back in Pokémon Yellow.

The screen faded. Rebecca felt sorry for Absol. She wish she could jump on the screen and save it, but she couldn't.

The screen faded back to the player's character in the Pokémon center. Nurse Joy was coming back from her little room. "I'm so sorry," she said, "but this poor creature isn't last any longer if you stay here. That's the strange thing with Pokémon. Take her back to where you met, which should be your hometown. Hurry now!"

This story feels a little on the rushed side now.

So, Violet return to her hometown "Jay's Song" which was the name of the protagonist's neighborhood, as Rebecca wasn't phased by how it was named after her real life hometown. That is oddly specific. I looked up the neighborhood out of curiosity to see if it exists and I came out empty-handed.

When Violet got to the house, the screen turned black, and the screen came back. It was just Violet that was the only when in her virtual backyard.

Someone appeared behind her, it was Giovanni "At least, you'll be at peace with your Pokémon," He cackled. Then the screen faded for the last time. It went to the main menu and Rebecca wanted to see if the save file was there but it was already long gone.

So the next day, Rebecca was watching television, when her dad came in and told her these following words: "We'll be going to do some errands, so you'll be home alone for a while."

Those were the same exact words that were spoken in the game by her virtual-counterpart father.

She ran to the window as soon as possible and in the bush were the two bright, red Absol eyes were staring straight at her.

The end.

So, that was definitely one of the shorter pastas I've reviewed. It was based on Pokémon Violet like I promised.

What?... Oh, you thought it was going to be on Pokémon Violet/Scarlet? No, it wasn't. Coincidentally, this pasta with "Pokémon Violet" was published nearly seven years before the official Pokémon Violet (and Scarlet) games were released.

Extra Thoughts:
It's definitely not something I'm crazy about, and I feel like it kind of rips off Absol (Reaper), published in 2012, with the whole Absol with bright red glowing eyes staring from a distance. I think it does the whole thing, with the in-game characters being the protagonists decently. At least it pulls the concept off better than Alex Melee did since the real-life dad and protagonist being in the game initially builds up to what happens in the ending, where the game predicted what would happen to the protagonist in real life. I guess they used Absol because they're the Disaster Pokémon, and it predicted unfortunate events to happen to the protagonist in real life. It's like that one episode of the Twilight Zone with the couple getting divisive and violent in real life as predicted on the television beforehand. That's nice; however, I feel like the pasta was a little too short and abrupt, and it's like "Milotic's Revenge" levels of wanting to get itself over with. I feel like there needs to be more meat, as in content, added to it. It's just giving me those vibes where I feel like there should've been more added to the story than what was provided, kind of like for Zombreon.

I feel like more should've been added involving the day time skip with displaying what was happening in real life. I don't know, it might just be me.

How would I rate this? Well, I do like the buildup to it with what happens to them in real life from what happened to them in the game. I like that concept. I think that's my problem with it, though; I mostly like it just because of the concept, but the story should've had a little more content and layers to it.

Plus, I don't think it does a good job with creepy factors. I guess hearing the screeching Absol cry and seeing the Absol in real life would be creepy if you look at it in the protag's perspective, but that's it.

So, what I'm saying is this pasta is an example of "good concept, execution needs some work".

The stuff with Giovanni felt like it came out of nowhere too.

It's not the worst pasta out there, but it's not the best pasta I've read.

So, it's clearly a DRIED PASTA.
