Note: Please do not harass the original author or anyone who makes content related to this pasta. This review was simply made for entertainment purposes only. This is all based on MY OPINION as well.Pasta Name: Lost Silver
Publish Date: June 6th, 2010
Description: The protagonist picks up a copy of Pokémon Silver version but was taken on an unexpected odyssey within the game involving Gold slowly losing everything.
Fun Fact: this pasta was posted anonymously on a thread, so the person who wrote it is unknown (as far as I'm aware of).
Highlight: the usage of the Unowns.

No more fooling around. lost silver review now. I got sidetracked with drawing my animal crossing drawing.
something I should note, some versions of this pasta has more content than the original. for example, some versions have one with your rival saying "even" and you fight his no-eyed feraligatr. also where you talk to the gym leaders with no eyes and spell out "who are you kid?" and the celebi telling you to go away but those extra parts kind of drag on a bit and I prefer to do the version everyone would be familiar with.
Summary:
so it start off with the usual protagonist gets old game because of nostalgia and it's because they got so excited for the gen 2 remakes that they went to get silver version. and what do you know it's unusual and strange because they started off at the bellsprout tower and they had a cyndaquil named hurry and 5 unowns spelling out leave. I think what the pasta does with the unowns is a bit creative. their trainer card had all 251 pokemon, max pokedollars, and max playtime.
lemme tell you this pasta is all over the place with its plot, so let me just summarize a couple of the things. like there was a sign asking turn back now? and the player said yes and their cyndaquil died and they got 6 unowns spelling out he died. eventually gold was surrounded by a bunch of graves and fell into the graves. gold slowly loses body parts and the unowns change every area they go in.
now for the iconic part of the pasta, the one where gold lost all of his limbs, he has a lv 100 shiny celebi that is cut in half, the unowns spell out DYING, and gold fights a ghostly red who uses a sad lv 255 pikachu (yes it's lv 255).
the celebi uses perish song.
pikachu used flail
celebi used perish song
pikachu used frustration
celebi used pain split
pikachu used mean look
celebi dies from the perish song instead of fainting
then pikachu goes beyond the 4-move limit and uses destiny bond and dies too
gold won apparently as red's sprite appears and becomes decapitated (which is a detail I missed the first time)
so it moves to gold at his house and becomes a head only the unowns spelled NO MORE, and had 40 badges for some reason. he eventually finds a clone of himself and they said goodbye forever. ??? used nightmare appeared on the screen. and gold goes back to the graves and is gone. it ends with the unowns spelling out IM DEAD and a textbox saying "RIP..."
So what does this pasta represent? well some people theorized it's a metaphor for the end of the 8-bit era of gaming as gen 1 and 2 have been forgotten and replaced by the newer gens and the remakes. the speedrunning community begs to differ
The pasta states that gold despite all of his efforts in earning 16 badges, becoming the champion, and ending team rocket once and for all until the ultra gen 7 games has become forgotten.
My thoughts: it reminds me of ben drowned a bit and it does have some similar things to it, the plot is all over the place, it's mysterious, and it makes you think of what it could represent. but I think ben drowned worked because the pasta makes it look like it could actually happen in the game, it uses dialogue in the game, and it has its share of creepy factors too. yes I will admit, ben drowned wouldn't have been that great if it wasn't for the wmv that made the pasta seem convincing even though it's fake. majora's mask is already a dark game too. stuff like link bursting into flames is a bit disturbing. another example is the russian sleep experiment is great because they seem realistic and look like they could actually happen in real life like did the experiment actually happen? it makes the readers question if it's actually real. I know I said I wouldn't be judging pastas by its realism but I'm bringing it up because this pasta does seem a bit convincing and there is a chance it could've happened. but here's my issue with lost silver. it suffers the same problems as creepy black version does. it has interesting ideas and it makes a great rom hack game, but it's not really that creepy. this pasta is strong story-wise and it's certainly one of the more interesting pokepastas out there, but it's not that scary though. and you should look at it on the author's perspective and if I was the protagonist, would I be afraid if I played this "haunted" game? probably not, I'd probably be more intrigued if anything.
I really was hoping to give lost silver the good rating because of how interesting its concepts are but these are CREEPYpastas and this one is not all that creepy. even back then when I was young, this one didn't really scare me. now I will admit that a lot of the fanarts made for this pastas are unsettling but we're talking about the original source material here. if it wasn't obvious already especially since I spoiled the rating since the cover art, it's a DRIED PASTA. It had interesting and creative ideas, but the creepy factors were lackluster. if anything, it's more depressing than creepy.
also get use to things happening to gold's body, there's a couple more pastas on something happening to gold's body and I will try to get to those as soon as I can.
guess it costed him two arms and two legs hehehe I suck at jokes xD
stay tuned for the next review.
