at the size you've made the image on full view, I can't see the alterations, at least not a first glance.
p.s. I think you owe it to yourself to upgrade your d40. your style suites a full frame slr like the D3, D700 and D3S, yup that's a compliment btw, I'd say your talents could do with a camera equivalent.
p.s.s. I missed the D3X off that list, but that thing is £5000 and a big decision since it's a bit unfriendly in comparison to the D40... plus I don't need to add that a film maker like yourself can buy a proffesional HD camcorder for roughly the same money.

i've been thinking of upgrading for a while now. the camera i have in my sights is the cannon 7D. there's an "eos" in there somewhere but it's not worth saying it every time lol. it's an 18MP and has HD recording as well. it all comes at heavy price though. £1,469 lol. look it up.

I'm pretty clued up on slrs, and I'd say that's a good choice for your wallet; the good thing about canons is always the megapixels. which doesn't make a large difference with slrs, but can save hassle in post. Strangely nikon slrs have stayed at roughly 12 megapixels up until the D3X which has 25 megapixels.
problem with canons though is they don't have sensor cleaning mechanisms (not correct terminology, but you might know what I'm talking about XD), so make sure you pick up an all round cleaning kit.
