Many of you asked me for a tutorial. So here it is... all dirty secrets of my work...Edit: OMG a DD !!! I'm really speechless! Thank you very much
Ways to obtain splashes:

Be sure the images have a clear background and work with layer-blendingmodes / masks to remove the background.

How long does it take normally for you to get the image finalized how you want?

Well it depends on the details that should be visible. More details result in more time. You have t find the right splashes for the right spot, transform or combine them... I would say a quick one takes 2-4 hours. But if you ask me... I would never say an images is finalized. There's always something that can be improved xD

Your art is really neat looking! I'm glad it got featured like this. I prefer to hand paint things, but it's a neat effect and maybe someday I'll do something similar to create a water creature. I dunno. It's really original and I'd like to hope it stays that way. Thanks for showing off, though, I appreciate when artists are willing to share their 'secrets'.

I don't favour tutorials because I'm either too dim or too impatient to learn the sophisticated techniques described; but this one is a gem, worth favouring for it's own sake as a visual artifact, never mind the admirably clear and sage advice which might enable even someone like me who fears 'layers' and blending as being too difficult and time consuming to try doing things this way for the sake of superior results. Believe it or not, nearly all my images are step by step transformations done on the original itself using simplistic filters, selections and edge refinement along with the crudest of cut'n'paste work. This example [link] was a joint effort involving three of us, one of them proficient in using 'layers'.
