Normally, pregnancy pictures don't appeal to me, but this photo is so much more than that.
I really do enjoy this photo and can't believe how many people are remarking just on the "pregnant smoker" concept. As a "common viewer" or whatever everyone is calling the masses viewing this image, I see nothing that promotes the idea of pregnant women smoking. Rather, I interpret this as a different take on classic pool table bar pictures. Instead of seeing the celebrities around a pool table, enjoying a drink and laughing the night away, you see something more real, deeper, and meaningful to the common citizen. Granted, I know that usually women don't go around half naked like this (although sultry clothes are common), but the way she's dressed just addresses the fact that she's pregnant even more. I feel like this image reflects an aspect of the night life of society for people around say, 25-40.
And unless some viewers are truly ignorant, yes studies have shown that pregnant and smoking is bad, and yes - there are still women out there who smoke while pregnant. No, this image does not tell me that if I become pregnant, I should smoke. Something where the focus is entirely on a pregnant smoker would seem more suiting of a promotion. Like this: [link]

Thank you for your comment! I truly appreciate the time you took to write this. I can but agree with you and I like your interpretation. This image does have a deeper meaning (for me) but also, so it seems, for more people. I'm glad it does.
And regarding the smoking-part, yes a lot of people are mindless followers of government propaganda and don't tend to think for them selves anymore... Too bad...

I full-heartedly agree with this post, sir (or ma'am). I feel the truly "ignorant" viewers are the ones who cannot focus on anything else but the pregnant woman smoking. I like the "darkness" this concept seems to have, and, like you said, a different twist on "classic" pool-playing/bar-hopping/whathaveyou... I see it as an anti-fashion statement, really. Like you said, this seems to reach out the more "common", and REAL person; not everybody in these digs are a all plastic, glam-models.
But I admit I do find the pregnant woman a bit of a novelty... There's something very Tarantino about this whole shot.

this is a very cool shot, love the intensity of their gazes and the color, lighting, everything. as a follow up, we need to see a family photo after the baby is born, maybe in the same pool hall
