Description
Guess what time it is, guys! That's right, it's the yearly tradition of the BaaingTree going head-to-head with PaintShop Pro8 and getting her wooden butt served back on a plate! And guess what happened this year? She got her wooden butt served back on a plate. Boy howdy, who'da thunk it? PaintShop Pro8 was determined to kill me this time. At least four times during the coloring process, it deleted chunks of layers, added lines and changed colors, and finally changed it from layer to layer. It pixelized the flat colors beyond recognition, so I had to go through and fix it up, and some of the lines make me cry because I had to use the mouse to redraw them. By the time I saved the final thing, I was so sick of it that I gave up on keeping it from being compressed, so Raige's hair looks like some kinda skin on a purse. Finally I just saved it as a bitmap out of disgust; even though DA won't let me submit that version, I can at least point and say, "Ha! Once, my son, I was able to USE the program!" Sorry about the poor quality. Grrraaaaah. Grah, grah, grah. Now I remember why I indulge in this tradition only once a year. And yes. I was inspired by the fanart100 challenge. (Don't know what it is? Check it out: [link] ) Don't know how, seeing as I've been artistically dead for a while, but it did. Only since I draw fanart about as often as I tackle PainShop ProHate, I decided I'd use it for mine own purposes. In this case, M.D. and Raige. Ah, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
*shuffles back to her cave to nurse her wounds*
Bottom Line: PainShop Pro-Hate wins the match. Five hours.

Ehn. But the skin tones look good. And Raige's shirt looks like it would change like Stan's. Kudos for trying!

Probably, though my memory was fallacious. Thought he was driven out by mutant pirahna poodles.

Nah, that was in the first game. The mutant pirahna poodles guarded the governer's house. This is in the fourth game on Jambalya...
Y'know, I think we talked about this yesterday...

hey Erin!!! I think you've made an awesome attempt!! I'm really proud that you have the guts to keep trying PSP out, even when you seem to hate the experience at the time! you're having more luck than you realise I think, this isn't looking so terrible as you think and I recon with a few pionters you could become very good at computer colouring! \:] 5 hours really isn't a long time to spend colouring a digital piece, and some of the pattern/texture work you're getting in there (especially on his shirt!) is lookin' really good |:] - I say stick with it. a little and often, - practice makes perfect! ^-^

*grumble* I still say it's a program that's out to get me. I mean, the pixelizing I could understand, but the random deletion/layer swapping/color screw ups? Grah. I was quite proud of my brilliant figuring out of how to use swatches. ("Woohoo! Look at me, I can take blue plaid, tune down the opacity to fifty, go paintbucket bonkers, and then do the same only with blue at fifty opacity! Go me!")

yeah. the swapping colours thing really does sound very random! The only thing I can think of that might cause something like that to happen would be if you saved the image in a different colour format.. - say if you started in RGB and saved it in CYMK or something, it would automatically change the colours to match the new format... the pixelation of random parts of the image though... that is weird and I can't explain it x.x ~ unless perhaps somehow the file got corrupted \:\

I never mess around with different color formats. It has the most peculiar effects, I've found. So I still have no idea. My dad's blaming the program. Which would suck, but it sure would explain a lot.

Trust me, it took much longer than it should have. By the end of it, I was gibbering nutty.

Hrm, partners? Probably Harry (I think a lot of the pics are gonna be concept work for a fanfic that will probably never be written, but involves Harry becoming a jockey in hippogriff racing XD), and as for enemies ... Macnair? *shrugg*

Or you could doodle Sirius holding a ferret just out of reach or something. Maybe Malfoy sneering about how Buckbeak's a birdbrain or something. That would be a nice pic; Buckbeak coming in for the slicey-dicey!
