Description Those of you who've ever had the privilege to use a cintiq for any length of time can attest to the fact that it is not only super awesome and convenient, but also seems to generate heat equivalent to that of a thousand burning suns right underneath your drawing arm. This by no means hinders the awesomeness of the cintiq, it just makes working from home in 100-degree weather super great.

haha nah it's not bad when the weather is normal! seems to be an over-heating thing, where when the room itself is hot the cintiq gets hot. in the winter it's totally cold! which is kinda of a bummer actually haha coulda used the extra heat then!

try being in a room with 20 computers--all on with their own cintiq--and the AC goes out....it's like 90 degrees and really humid outside and the sun is beating down on said computers because the one wall is nothing but windows......

but yeah, i can relate to the comic

While I can't say I've had this experience, I do love your take on the weather. What with the arm melting, and all. |D

Wow, I am actually thinking about getting one of those, but I live in Dallas TX. This is kinda a warning to not get one. What is the price tag on one of those anyway?

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

basalt In reply to SeiichiSin [2010-07-11 18:26:04 +0000 UTC]

Mine is an older discontinued 17" model, so the heat issue seems to have been lessened in newer ones. The closest new cintiq size-wise to mine would be the 21UX which runs $2k. Quite a chunk of change, but honestly if you have the money, an awesome investment. Changed the way I work completely! I love it <3

SeiichiSin In reply to basalt [2010-07-11 18:39:10 +0000 UTC]

That is awesome. And hopefully before your arm is cooked and burnt to a crisp, you can afford a newer one. I wouldn't be able to afford a new one till sometime next year though, trying to help my family get out of debt.

curiouser-etc In reply to SeiichiSin [2010-07-11 04:34:48 +0000 UTC]

I live in Ft. Worth, and even if it's 105 outside it will always be sweater weather inside. I usually get a cold at the beginning of summer from the system shock of going from the a/c to the outdoors and back.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SeiichiSin In reply to curiouser-etc [2010-07-11 06:41:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that does tend to happen a lot of the times. Except for when people want to save on the electric bill. Then all of a sudden the temp inside matches what it is outside. Or is worse.

ChristinaBledsoe In reply to SeiichiSin [2010-07-11 04:00:42 +0000 UTC]

Last I looked, the small one runs $999 or so, I think the larger is $1,999. I would suffer the heat for how awesome they are! Fans are cheap.

SeiichiSin In reply to ChristinaBledsoe [2010-07-11 06:42:47 +0000 UTC]

Sweet, that means I will be able to afford one of those before I will ever be able to afford a car. Now I just need to get me some desk room and find a good place to buy one from.
