Description Okay I guess "that day" was closer than I thought.

Anyway.

F-14B "Firebird 105" of VF-115 "Typhoons" during the Belkan War in 1995, as seen in "Task Force Sea Dragon" by Ronin201 .

Firebird 105 was flown most commonly by Lt. Ryan "Rocky" Bradford and his RIO Lt. Takeru "Razor" Hinamoto.

Firebird 105 is shown here with a balanced load of 2 AIM-9M-8 Sidewinders, 3 AIM-7M Sparrows, and 2 AIM-54C Phoenixes, and kill markings of 12 Belkan aircraft.

Hmm... in ACE COMBAT INFINITY, the F-14A -Blaze- has "OMDF"(Osean Maritime Defense Force) instead of "NAVY"(I think Oseans use Defense Forces formerly), but looks great anyhow.

The ODF wasn't started until 1996. As described by Sho, this F-14 is shown in markings from 95.

Well then I need to look back about that, I saw someone was saying that ODF was create since those Belkans declared war in early 20th century...

In fact they were formed even later than I said. Makes sense considering they had no reason prior (outside of fan speculation) to make the move and considering this was around the time Harling would be pushing the olive branch as hard as humanly possible.

"In 2001, Osea began reorganizing its military force. This was partly due to the Belkan War of 1995. The population of Osea were in shock after the June 6 nuclear attacks, and started opposing military actions. The restructuring was completed in 2006, and it was during 5-year period that the ODF was formed." -Acepedia

The wiki is also shit.  Just putting that out there.

That wiki was kinda like "if there is no information just put a blurry screenshot from game and add some guessing"... but what can we do about it, there are hardly exhaustive info about everything of Osea from just a PS2 game...

Guessing is fine, extrapolation is part of the analytical process.  What isn't fine is BAD guessing.  Acepedia is rife with terribly informed guesses.

Yeah but in this case it's all we've got to go offa. Sometimes you just gotta embrace the suck.

And the whole deal of a superpower having a "defense force" is silly.  Additionally, in Ace Combat Zero, the timeframe from which this scheme is, the Osean Navy was just that.  A NAVY.  Not a "Maritime Defense Force."  Finally, the trump card:  The person for whom this piece was made has the tail saying "NAVY."  So there we go.

That makes sense, the wiki said Osean military forces were reorganizing after the Belkan War, but it also listed ODF in the BK... I am a bit confused.

I gotta admit I like that the bird looks a little weathered. She's likely be after a few months of pretty heavy ops.

Clean Tomcat just didn't seem right.  Especially not after the parties that the Stinger went through.  Apparently arctic runs are hell on the jets.  So thus 105 is not only filthy, she is SUPERFILTHY

Huh, never knew. I'll keep that in mind for my writings when I talk about Osean Navy Arctic Runs.

That's what I've read, anyway.  I could be wrong, or be remembering things incorrectly.  It does make sense, though, since you've got sea spray, occasionally snow, cold temperatures, etc.  All of which is not friendly to a paint job.

Yeah. I think one of the books I have, likely "Tomcat!" by Paul T Gilcrist, mentions that ops in the Northern Pacific can be grueling. Probably why you don't hear about stuff up there very often if it's so bad on aircraft condition. <__<
