Description
Note~I hate these. |D
They're such a pain, usually one ear will turn out perfect, and the other will fall off at the slightest provocation. They can't be sold either because people have such different ear shapes.
Also, they hurt to wear for a long time.
Still, I got a request to make a tutorial, and I do get quite a few favorites on them, so why not..? =w= (Although it would have been nice if Model Magic was cheaper. Damn craft stores send out 40% off coupons then put everything in the store 30% off so you can't use the stupid things. Assholes. )
I tried adding extra pipecleaner to make it more secure, but it didn't work and I cut the excess off.

Oh, one more questoin, where can you get fur fabric like that? Every place I've gone to has the really cheap looking stuff.

It's mostly a matter of luck, 90+ percent of all the fabric I find is absolute crap, but once in a great while I come across decent stuff.
Not at WalMart lately though, for the last year or so they haven't gotten anything good at all. Joanne's fabric has good stuff sometimes.
Something sneaky to do is order free or really cheap samples from fabric websites, though not all of them have samples large enough to even make ears out of.

Well, it's not the ears I need fur for. I'm an anime nerd and I like to cosplay for EVERYTHING and I need a lot of brown fur. You know Koga from InuYasha? Yeah... very furry.

Ah. You can get it from websites, but good quality faux fur is expensive. x___x I used to have a bunch of links to good ones, but lost them when I switched to this laptop, sorry.

Oh, makes sense. Thanks. I'm cosplaying Koga from InuYahsa and I'm getting ideas on how to do the pointed ears. This will also help for my many other cosplays.

They really don't look anything like fox ears; they're too narrow, too pointed, and the overall shape is wrong. Also, almost all species of fox have very thickly furred ears.
I suppose if you lengthened and broadened the design they could pass for the ears of a bat-eared fox.
It's overall a very neat way of making ears for a costume, but calling them "fox ears" really is a misnomer.

I've found that adding too much fur makes them top-heavy, as does making them much longer or wider than what I showed here(I've tried, trust me). They aren't entirely accurate, but it's the best I could do with the materials I have on-hand.
But then, the tutorial is mostly to give others a base to improve on.
What would you call them?

Can you use any other kind of clay or whatever you want to call it?

Most clays are too heavy to be supported by your ears, Model Magic is(comparatively) light as a feather.
I can think of some better materials to use, but they'd be a lot more expensive...(plastics and rubbers... Plus mold-making material)

Yay, thank you for making this tutorial even though you dun like these and it costs money for that clay. I wanna try making a pair when I get the chance!

xD No problem, I'm sure I'll find a use for the rest of the Model Magic anyway.
