Sion sprinted past him, holding another smoke bomb for extra cover. A shadow lunged towards him, much too slow, but Sion squalled and pretended to stumble, luring their pursuer clear enough from the door for Chester to sneak past.

"You little thieves, you won't get away with this!" She swiped at Sion again, alternatively trying to grab them or simply trip them on her feathers. "Give up right now and you can still get off lightly! Just give it back!"

-Clear,- came an update from Chester in the chat, and Sion dodged once more and bolted for the bright light of the exit.

Once a centuries-old icon has been stolen away and transported clear across this arm of the Milky Way, there's generally not a whole lot the local church will be able to do to get it back from a skithtiri mob queen who is the de facto ruler of a city-state on a distant planet, even assuming they ever find out where it went.

Dirraga on colonies have learned to be wary of the theft of their beautiful metalwork, but few on the frigid and deadly homeworld expect trouble from tiny visitors like these.
