UPDATE: I've realized that this'll help more people if I place it under Tutorials, so there.**********************************************
A lot of aspiring comic artists seem to focus only on style, and not much on storytelling and characterization. Being a comic book artist not only requires the ablilty to draw, but also, the ability to tell a story. And to be able to tell a story visually, you have to be able to give life to the characters- make them look more animated and energized on the page.
One way to do it is through exaggeration. You can give life and energy to the most simplest and boringest situations, and you can apply this to any style. See above and compare the actions on the left with those on the right. I think you'll agree that it's really not that difficult. And I'm not exaggerating!
This was actually part of my lecture during last week's seminar, but I don't think the audience was able to see these clearly so I'm posting it here for your convenience. ^__^ Hope this helps folks!

I admit. I was expecting a panal after the second "Guys arguing" to be "Guys making out".
They're so close, just a little kiss!

Sorry for the downer comment but this happens to be exactly why I loathe comic books (especially US style ones)... The characters look ridiculous, not to mention horribly fake. -_-

Well it's not everyone's cup of coffee. Some people hate comics, some people hate manga, some people hate both. ^^

...I should have read the other comments, now my comment looks silly. But the idea of Alucard needing an elevator is too funny *giggles*
On a different note it's nice to see older works getting their late and well-deserved DDs.

This is an amazing tutorial! It does show a more action-oriented and dynamic look for certain scenarios, making things more lively and exciting despite having something as typical as a girl running. The great annotations really help emphasize how the changes improve the previous drawing~ I'd love to wax poetic on the beautiful lines but I think the picture pretty much speaks for itself just how good you are at this! Congratulations on the Daily Deviation!
