sorry guys, this is as good as it gets for now. XD;;;hope this at least clears up some of the mystery? I know it's sort of a crappy explanation, but it's what I got at the moment. I'm going to go get some sleep now. :3

If you don't put the original back into the mold, this is assuming you're working with something hard, like paperclay and that your original is hollow, when you pour your core mold you wouldn't have anything in the end. X3 it'd be silicone against silicone, no hollow area to form the part!
I use resin as my pouring material. It's a two part plastic compound that you mix together and then pour and it sets up anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours depending on the type of resin. :3

Similar to making molds of fossils, I see :}. 'Cept we don't use air vents, and usually have to make an overmold out of plaster or plastic or something. Because you can't rubberband a mold for a nine-foot-long Supersaurus rib together and expect it to not leak everywhere XD.
