Description
For those who don't get it, Sally recently got a new "look" in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" comic, and we all know how much Sonic fans love change... (Cue Sonic fans brandishing pitch-forks, and torches) Though what kinda baffles me mostly is, some fans are lamenting that Sally's cheeks are now rounded, instead of fuzzy as they used to be. I keep seeing people commenting on Sally pics going, "Where's the cheek tufts?" and such... (They even made a club dedicated bringing back her cheek fuzz.)I decided to compensate those pining for Sally's fuzzy cheeks.
This fuzzy enough for you?
PS: Li'l geeky fact, as JammerLee pointed out, Sally didn't have cheek fuzz (like Tails) for the first 15 issues (19, if you count the 4-part beginning mini-series) of the Sonic comic actually.
Nor did she in the first "pilot" episoded of Sonic-SatA.M. "Heads or Tails."

I just didn't want her face looking flat.
Also, in the first 15 Archie comics and whatnot, she had a different design where she was pink and had black hair.

It's not flat, it's round. (She got some pudge.)
She was also a blonde in the first issue #0.

No, I mean, flat as in "untextured".
Her face looks like it's made of plastic.

Now Sally has a "mustache" that rivals Eggmans'.
And Sally is not amused by Sonic being in her cheek fur.

When I first saw Sally's new design a few months ago, I was iffy, but when it was in the comic, I liked it. I always liked her old designs the bestΒ and this reminds me of that.

I kinda tried to mix a li'l of her old design, and new design here. I like both personally. Don't know why people hate the outfit so much, I like it. (But she still has her blue boots, and vest.)

I think you did a good job. My favorite designΒ is from theΒ first episode of SatAMΒ lol, and mini series/earlyΒ comics.Β I don't know why, but I like her pink and the no cheek fuzz. Her cloths look fine to me, vest? Check, Blue boots? Check. Only differenceΒ is, she wears a shirt and shots, and gloves.

I actually kinda like the undershirt, and shorts, they make her look a bit more tomboy-ish, and athletic.
Yeah, pink Sally wasn't bad either, and kinda cute. (Though, I prefer her brown, sense others like Amy Rose & Julie-Su are pink) Kinda funny how alot of people are upset over the loss of the cheek fuzz, when originally she didn't have that either back in the pilot ep' of SatA.M., and earlier comics as you pointed out. I think it's kinda sad some Sally-fans nowadays on DA are saying things like she's "not Sally anymore," "she's a fake Sally," "Sally is dead to me now," or saying they'd rather she get killed-off permanently in the comic, then be "changed." (I've seriously seen some say that...) I've even seen them hassling writer Ian Flynn, and artist Ben Bates over the new Sally outfit/design.
At this point on DA, Sally is getting more hate from her own "fans," then her "haters," over the new look. If it's one thing Sonic fans can't accept it's change. (It's the "Green eyes in Sonic 4" incident all over again.)
I'd rather Sally wear shorts, then get killed-off personally, as I like her regardless how she looks. It's kinda shallow for Sally-fans to only like her naked, and such.

:3 I agree with everything you said, dude. especially on Ian Flynn. Sometimes I like his writing, and other times, meh---so, I just don't buy the comics. Problem solved. That's crazy that their bugging him and Ben Bates over this.........IΒ wouldn't want to know how old these people are, lol.

Sadly, some are in their 20s & 30s, yet act like children... And yeah, if I grew bored with the comics, or didn't like their directions, I'd stop reading them for awhile, and come back to 'em later.
Yeah, some guy actually had the nerve to go to BenBates' DA page, and say his artwork was bad, and such... He stated he doesn't know how Bates "gets a paycheck for working on the comics." There's a difference between "negative critique," and downright insulting somebody, as well as being passive-aggressive...
I think he does a good job overall, and he is a good artist. (Ben Bates also did artwork for the IDW TMNT, MLP, and other comics to.) Check out his DA page for yourself here. ~BenBates
Ian's not infallible, and I don't love every issue he's written, but I think he's a nice/funny guy, a good writer, and that he's done more good then bad for the comic series.
He even fixed some things I didn't like about the Sonic comics. (Like making it so there's only 7 chaos emeralds, instead of literally 1000s littered across Mobius. Not only does that make them more accurate to the source-material, but also makes them less of a "deus-ex-machina" to.)
I also love how he adapted some things like the Battle Bird Armada villains from the obscure GameGear game "Tails Adventure." (Which you can get on 3DS via the Eshop actually for 5 bucks.)

Oh boy. o.O Yeah, those guys really need to do something else.
IΒ think Ben does a good job too, and I watch him. And I agree about Flynn doing more good then bad for the comic, and I like that he adds more game stuff, and has the characters go into zones more.
That's cool.

Indeed... It feels like more then half the Sonic fanbase does nothing, but complain sometimes...
I agree, I like that stuff to. I also like while he adapts stuff from the games, he also seems to be careful to not emulate the games to much. He still keeps the comics it's own separate canon from the games, and SatA.M., but still has elements from both.
I don't understand why some SatA.M. fans try to spread nasty rumors that Ian "hates" the old SatA.M. cartoon. (Which isn't true. Ian says he likes that show, and I'll take his word, over people who know nothing about him.) Ian even brought back roboticization after previous writers wrote it out of the comic, and even revealed Eggman's eyes to be black, like the old Americanized SatA.M. Robotnik design.
(Not to mention the in-jokes like referencing the "margarine" gag, or Nicole's camera looking like Robotnik's old hover camera-bots. A "SatA.M.-hater" wouldn't be aware of that stuff...)
I also like how he keeps some forgotten game characters around still like, Bean, Bark, and Nack. The comic is pretty much the only thing now keeping them, and the SatA.M. characters alive still. (Which I'm thankful for.)

I remember hearing people talk about how in SatAM and early Archie comics (at least before Issue 160) Sally and a lot of the other characters didn't look like they belong in a Sonic game. And sometimes it would look weird like Knuckles and Julie-Su's realistic koala maid.Β Not to mention in the comics, the game characters had five fingers while other Mobians had only four. The only character I can think of that actually looked like a game character during the pre-160 era besides all the hedgehogs and echidnas was Mina. Granted she still had four fingers like the other non game characters.

Beau-Skunk In reply to Cartoonguy133 [2013-12-07 11:05:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, though, I think they all have had 5 fingers for awhile now. (No explaination though, probably doesn't need one.) And yeah, some characters in the comics didn't look like Sonic characters much, so I can kinda understand wanting to update them a bit, or draw them more like Sonic characters.
Of course, problem is, apparently some other fans don't want them to look like Sonic characters at all. The Sonic fanbase is very divided on how they think the characters should look, so you can't please everyone no matter what you do with them.

Sally's went through a lot of changes through out the years. Her fur changing from pink to brown, getting her blue vest, having longer hair and then getting it cut to how it was before, and now her recent redesign. And I don't know if this counts but her anatomy would look different depending on who drew her.
